Hi,
Im desperate and thats why im writing here.
Probably i have been fraud. I paid this breeder a huge amount of money over the internet using paypal.
It all started when we contacted Carrera Bengals and saw "her" wonderful cats. We started to email and we made a deal and we paíd her a deposition for a special cat. When it was time for us to pay for the kitten we transfered 2 416,50 us dollar and we got a receipt. And after that we lost contact with her. While emailing with her it sometimes took weeks for her to answer and we thought i was strange but we dearly wanted this kitten.
Now, her homepage is down, she doesnt answer our emails.
by mere accident we stumbled over another breeder who had a warning text on her site writing that she had nothing to do with Carrera and many ppl hade be fraud by her. The pictures that Carrera had wasnt her cats, in fact she stole it from antoher breeder.
We are situated in Sweden, and have paid 2 416,50 us dollar for a cat who doesnt exist. What can we do to get our money back???
We want to press charges but how and where?
plz, write something

You should start by raising a Paypal dispute for failure to supply goods - they will investigate on your behalf and may be able to recover your money. If you paid through Paypal by credit card you should also tell your card company.
It's always difficult to know where a crime has been committed (if it has) when the transaction is done over the internet but your local police or legal advice bureau (if you have them in Sweden) should be able to tell you what to do next. _________________

Oh dear, it's always adviced to not send money through the internet, especially that amount without seeing the kittens first. You have been scammed and i'm afraid there is nothing you can do and put it down to experience. If you paid by credit card you can try to reclaim the money back that way or via paypal but I won't hold out much hope. I'm so sorry |

You have 30 days to file a claim through paypal so I would to that immediately and then I would call the police. _________________ Check out my my blog

oh no! what an awful thing for somebody to do
it may be worth you contacting debbie garcia of adventure beach bengals, if she has gone so far as to put a warning on her website, you may find that she is taking legal action & she may be able to advise you.
apart from that, contact paypal & your credit/debit card company as others have already said. it may also be worth emailing TIBCS (the international bengal cat society) to see if they can help in any way.
i really hope you get your money back & can put it towards a genuine kitten soon. _________________ REN SLAVEN www.slavess.co.uk

Thank you everyone!
Im going to contact paypal tomorrow and also my bank. You gave me a little bit of hope in this matter.
We have contacted Debbie and she seems to be a good person and she is as you said trying to find out what she could do to help all of us who has been fraud by Stacy.
We also emailed a picture of the kitten we paid for to see if this is one of Debbies kittens. But it really doesnt matter anylonger.
I sent a mail to Tibcs and im longing for them reply.
cross youre fingers for me. I´ll update you! |

I know nothing of Carrera and her morals/troubles/ethics but this credit crunch/recession must be a worrying time for all especially in the US at present and it must be taken into consideration when you part with your pounds/dollars to breeders who perhaps are a bit more desperate for money than usual. I hear in the news tonight that US pawn shops are full of trivial priced items that people have pawned in order to buy food.
Desperate times, desperate measures.
Lets hope you get your money back. _________________ Best Wishes

I really do feel so sorry for you that you were scammed, I stopped my sister sending money twice, once to a fake King Charles breeder in Scotland and one in Ireland.
My advice would be once your back in position to actually buy a kitten, is to do lots of research, only buy from a breeder that you can see both parents, papers and kittens. Never pay a deposit until you are absolutely sure and happy with what your doing. There is also alot of back yard breeders out there, you may well turn up to someones property and see these cute kittens and in your heart of hearts know it isnt right and feel like buying a kitten only to rescue it...dont...best thing to do is walk away. Many people fall into this trap and all they are doing is fuelling the BYB. I found my breeder using the the bengalkittenlist. Maybe email TICA see if they have any breeders in Sweden registered with them.
I really hope you get justice and get your money back and these people put in jail. _________________

Sadly Carrera Bengals isn't the only breeder in the USA who has taken money and not sent the cat.
I know to my cost. I lost $5000 as did another breeder over here.
I am not going to mention names but I would advise anyone thinking of buying from abroad via the Internet to be very careful when handing over a large sum of money.
Regards

Even if your deciding to get a kitten over the internet, you must have done some research of some kind. There are sites like this that offer advice and experiences. Would you pay for a car without seeing it? probably not! the same goes with pets...please please dont fall into this trap again.
Like I said I stopped my sister nearly doing it TWICE she eventually got what she wanted but it took a little longer and we got to see the puppy with her parents in a homely environment. It all worked out well and she lost no money in the process.
I am sorry if I am coming over sounding harsh and unfeeling, I dont intend to sound that way, I do really sympathise with everyone that is caught out this way. The more people that are educated the better chance of these 'crooks' not getting it all their way. Someone once said to me. 'Go with your mind and not with your heart' It was someone on this forum, Its really difficult but its the best advice i was given. _________________
