Congrats, yea, I looked for one like that around here and had no luck. I ended up with one from "catwheelcompany", but not nearly as nice as yours. I'm definitely envious.

thanks Brian, i spent days comparing the above 1, the maclaw 1 and the toy go round from the cat wheel company, the above 1 i feel is definitely the best i feel and the largest dimension at 49 inches, my f2 rudy is a big boy so i needed a bigger 1 xx

I love the wheel! I've had a look on the 'net and have been rather unimpressed at the cat-go-round and maclaw wheels. I think I may have seen a picture of this one before and loved it then... their website doesnt have any info on the wheel. Do you know where i could find some?

Regards
Rachel

the bearing is a washing machine drum bearing - I think they call them a spider not sure.

The actual wheel you can make out of a plywood circle. The track can be made from a strip of plywood with lots of saw cuts running across it about half way through the depth of the ply, this will make the strip flexible so you can bend it around the ply circle and fix it in place with glue & screws.

I think possibly 2 strips of thinner ply for the track would be better, fixing the first to the ply circle, then glue and screw the second strip to the first with the join of the second strip being in a different place to the first strip - if that makes any sense.

Nope, mine is a home-made (well OH made  ) jobby! but the bargain was, Kev would make it, and I'd decorate it, which still hasn't happened yet
Have to say totally agree the willowfrost ones look by far the nicest, especially like the metal frame! I just couldn't stretch to one at the time so that's why Kev got roped in!!
Your guys are going to love it I'm sure! Can't wait to see pics of them on it :D

My OH made our cat wheel pretty much as Louise has described. I posted some pics in a thread when he made it: http://www.bengalcatforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10949
The spinning bit is a washing machine bearing from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/HOTPOINT-CREDA-Support-SPIDER-BEARING/dp/B002T3DAA8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1301391838&sr=8-1
Hope that helps!
