Don't know if you remember me used to be silverdicer well my husband did, since i have my new prefix i wanted to be called that hence the name.
Well what can i say what a year so far, in January i had a loss of 8 kittens it was my beautiful blue eyed snow spotted Bengal this was her first litter, everything was fine through her pregnancy; she just went in to labour a week early, she was up all night trying to give birth then eventually she did to a stillborn, i tried and tried to get that kitten to breath but to no avail, anyway she went so bad after that, that i rushed her to the vets, to be told i could lose her and the kittens to cut a long story short i didn't lose my beloved cat thank god but it was hit and miss .
It took me and my husband and children a long time to get over it, i didn't think i was going to carry on but we did and i picked up my two Bengals from the studs only the other day, so here's hoping

Yeah she is fine, she has just come back from the stud so hopefully i can expect some kittens from her end of June and as for website i do have one but it got put on hold when i lost the baby's, thank you for your kind words.

I too am sorry to hear of your loss. My silver's first litter were all stilborn. According to my vet that's not uncommon. She (the vet) instructed me on how to deliver spotted cats on my own.

With the second litter I had to deliver the laat kitten. If the queen is on the small side you're more likely to have to help out. It was "stillborn," but not dead. I followed the instructions, and the kitten was fine (actually, I kept him).

We (or, more properly she) had her thrid litter this past weekend. Eight kittens. After five she was dead tired, and it apparent she'd never deliver the last three alive. My daughter and I delivered the final three, "stillborn" but still alive. All are doing well!

Talk to your vet about how to deliver your own spotted kittens if you need to. It's not hard, but you need a strong stomach for it.

That sounds interesting....delivering the kittens if the queen is tired.
I'd love to know whats involved

I often give my queens Caulophyllum as it stimulates the contractions and also does Raspberry Leaf tea to strengthen the uterus ready for delivery. Raspberry leaf tea can be a good toner ahead of time too if you start the queens on it from 5 weeks into pregnancy. Then if you make it very strong on the day of birth with honey this speeds up delivery too.

I know some breeders buy the tablet form but I like to use the tea bags as you can make the tea up strong on delivery day in a small amount of boiled water. It will keep in the fridge for a few days.

I'm always interested in hearing tips from other breeders.

Thank you drmartin13 I will ask my vet about that...unfortantly with my cat the vet said when she opened her up all the placenters had come away and that there was a bloated kitten in there also, there was one kitten fighting for life but the vet said that it past away minutes after it had been born....we had our cat have some test done in Richmond in London by a really good vet to find out why, but they all come back fine...blood test ect....said she had a nice healthy womb and that it was just bad luck....anyway thank you again for your advice and i will ask my vet about that.
