I am the owner of a 7 year old Bengal who I have owned since he was 8 weeks old. Since moving in with my boyfriend 4 months ago he spends all night crying and screaming. It has become increasingly worse. It is not a large house and he is very loud. He sometimes stops if we get up pick him up and hold him in bed until he goes to sleep. He has been vocal in the past at times but never anything like this. We have moved before and he adjusted fine, but we were always on our own. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Well he has always been vocal but usually only if I go outside or if I would go out of town. On rare occasion he did it at night but this has become every single night. It has become very frustrating. I feel like picking him up is rewarding negative behavior but it is all I/ we can do to get some sleep. Sometimes when he does it he will also run and play very loudly. The house is a small house so there is no escaping and he knows where we are.

I have had the same problem. We have two and one of them always cries at night. He usually wakes up at some point in the night, comes in the room and cries. For a few nights I would go out on the couch with him so my wife could sleep.

Anyway, I just decided that doing that was rewarding his behavior and allwoing him to wake us up to play. So, the solution was to just ignore him everytime he did it. Don't roll over, don't move or acknowledge his prescence. After a few nights he would just come into the room, cry a few times and realize nothing was going to happen and then either leave or go back to bed.

When I used to get up and chase him with a water bottle it became a fun game for him, now there's nothing to do but go back to bed or wake up his sleepy brother to play with him....
