I'll happily live with mice etc running round my house but I couldn't cope with a snake.

Well, our snake is an escape artist... I had closed the jar off with cheese cloth and a rubber band and thought it was safely contained. Well, apparently that was no barrier for a determined snake and this morning it was gone. It's small enough to crawl through the space underneath the door, too, so it could be anywhere in the basement now. I wished I had put it back outside yesterday when I caught it, but I had hoped to bring it to work today where we have a herpetologist who could've properly identified it and maybe even kept it for upcoming classes. I spent half an hour looking for it, but it must have found a good hiding spot. Oh well, I have a feeling it will eventually turn up again...

Well, they did find it again and Snakey was a goner... Mikesch just presented me with the headless leftovers. And boy, yes, it did stink up the place. A bit like skunk, but luckily not as strong. It had chew marks all over, but apparently it didn't really taste very well. I should've put it outside when I caught it the first time while it was still alive. Oh well, next time...

awww, poor little snake... still im sure the stink will teach the kits to avoid them in future : )
