So next week when she finally gets her chip she`ll be ready to take her first trip outside her new home.

Any tips as to how we do it? We are utterly terrified that shel get lost. (due to the recent loss of our seccond cat)

Shes been an outdoors cat for the two last years. Shes four in september.

We have decided to try getting her in a leach..(dont know if you write it like this.. )

And then start by walking with her around the neighbourhood.
Anything more we could do to help her remeber this is her home. Her other home is on the other side of the country so hopfully shell not try to get home.

Any ideas and tips are welcome.

Cats have a good internal radar. However, I lost a very much loved ginger tom moggy years ago when I moved house. He was desperate to go out after a week so I let him and he just shot off. I let him out too soon. I never found him despite walking the streets calling for him and putting posters up etc. Gutted.

Make sure she is completely familiar with the house ie she has lived there for at least 4 weeks, so she regards it as home. The leash is a good idea, but when she goes outside without it, make sure she is hungry. Let her have 5 minutes then call her back in to feed. Stretch the times out gradually and she will be fine.

Thank you for the tips. We decided to keep her inside for another two weeks. She is absolutley not enough comfortable in her new home jet.

I got Bubbles 2 1/2 weeks ago. He was confined to a bedroom on his own at first. He hid every time I or my partner went into the room but as soon as he heard our voices, came out to cuddle. I introduced the other 2 cats and my little old lady Yorkie for a few minutes each day. On day 3 he didnt hide anymore but stood proudly on the bed waiting for attention.

On day 2 he explored the house but was in his room at night. By day 3 he yowled so loudly at being shut in that I let him out day and night to play with the others at free will.

My other cats go out but I am either going to get Freedom fence or enclose the first 10m of the garden with an enclosure when I am brave enough to let Bubbles out. I know Bengals chase things and I cant bear the thought of him chasing cars I dont know how the other 2 will feel at not being able to roam but better safe than sorry.

my two swing from the letter box every night when i am locking the door, i figure they may be coming in 'heat'. i have booked their appointments to be neutered in a fortnight, i still wont let them out on their own tho. maybe in a couple of years i may succum to their demands.

Has anyone actually tried the Freedom fence? I have looked at it on the internet but it's based on 'condition training'. Is a Bengal clever enough to ignore it if there is a nice chasey thing out there ???
