Hello everyone,
just found this forum while googling a bit about some of the different foods that are out there and found one link that led us here. Kattastrofe_Pus was started as a word play originally back in 2001 for one of my cats and her life of craziness. As she got older we decided to find her a new friend and we got our first Bengal - NO*Spartacus Chinook Arch Occur [born 19.05.10] - she came to us in March 2015 as an retired cat from the breeder Spartacus Bengals. The old cat and her found their peace quickly. Chinook is a silver Bengal. Sadly our old cat passed away in December that year - 14 years old. Chinook lost her friend and after researching for a while introduced NO*Kingparadise Dante [born 23.09.15] near new years of 2015. Dante is a very dark colored Bengal and he quickly found out ways to play with the much older Chinook. Not always welcomed but Chinook is always the most patient and helped him along the way. While we call Chinook a ballet dancer and precision act, Dante must be described as the Tank in the family. Fast, strong and does not care if there something in the way - It will move.........
While both cats have been bonding nicely together we have also seen a strong bond from them to us. Chinook have always been the one to seek us out - sit on you or sleep on, but Dante is the one that starts calling whenever I left to go up to the attic where we lived before. He could sit and wait for me to come down..
In May this year we go got another increase in our family, and this time it was a small girl - of the human kind. And seeing how the Bengals reacted, interacted and have taken to watch her have been amazing. Chinook was quick on letting the baby connect with her, and she would watch anyone who came in to the house and held the baby. Making sure that nothing would be wrong. We had situations where the babys diaper needed to be changed in the middle of the night and Chinook would then alert us and get our attention that we needed to deal with it. She would lay down near by the baby and let her interact with her and she would sleep near and watch her. She's always very careful near the baby and whenever she steps around her she is super careful with stepping and watching every little move. When the baby cries she comes running to us to make sure we are aware. And when the baby have grabbed her to cuddle.. she have been accepting every little grab, touch and interaction with purrs and patience. I had never thought it would be like this. With Dante it has been a bit different. He interacts rarely, but keeps his distance. He's also a lot bigger with his 8 KGs vs Chinook's 3.5KG's - but on the days when the baby have gotten her vaccinations or have been a bit ill he's been coming laying besides her with one paw on the babys leg and watching her. One time he slept like this for a few hours.
With the baby and the two Bengals we outgrew our current living arrangement and 4 months later we moved to a much larger house. And at the same time the breeder which we got Chinook from were parting ways with another of her females. This time an F4 - Ormøyas Diablita Magnolia [born 06.01.09] - also Silver.
Diablita is the oldest, and the smallest of them all with her 3KG's - but she has the attitude to go with it. She's not afraid to tell the young male that she does not want him to come and lay on top of her to play and if she thinks that his spot looks good she will just walk over to him and lay on him or besides him. The house is big enough for each Bengal to have their own "spots" - and with a few climbing trees and 2 floors it's plenty of space to move around and hide if necessary.
During the days now we have 3 cats which are talking, in seemingly different dialects and often there can be solo races as one of the Bengals decides that he or she is going for a small marathon. Which often leads to another cat joining in and then we have the whole house sounding like a race track.
And the owners? We, Arnvid and Friida have been living together for 8 years and have always had a cat in our bed, in our lap and always in our heart :)
Will posts some pics of the Kattastrofe cats ;)
