Currently I give my 9 month male bengal, Kenickie, 1/4 of wet food twice a day. And 1/3 cup of dry twice a day. Both good products and grain free. Wet cat food brand is - Merrick Purrfect Bistro. Dry cat food is - Performatrin Ultra, Kitten formula.
He's about 11-12 pounds.

I'm trying to edit the above post but can't seem to figure it out.
I meant to ask how much I should be feeding my 9 month old male bengal and wanted to state that the 1/4 of wet is a 1/4 of a can. I'm not sure if I'm over or under feeding him. Also if he's getting enough protein. I do give him a couple of treats as well. Mostly all natural freeze dried or good brands I've read about.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

Thank you for the response. Yea I thought perhaps I was under feeding him. He eats twice a day at scheduled times. I looked on the packaging and my confusion was because both packaging is different and doesn't tell me how much to feed with the combined wet/dry. Will look at your link now. Thanks again!

You are going to get conflicting "opinions" about feeding. Many cats are "grazers" and they eat periodically throughout the day. Your kitty is still a kitten and should eat frequent meals. When you feed a combination of wet and dry, it is difficult to gauge the right amount of food. There are instructions on the cans and the bag of dry food. That's what you should go by. Your boy should continue to grow.

Everyone has their own way of raising children -- it's the same with pets! We all do things differently and our members here will post different answers. We aren't experts except that we own cats. We are just telling you what we do or what we think you should do.

Weight your cat periodically. At annual vet visits, your vet will determine whether your baby is underweight, normal or overweight. For the time being, since he still is growing, he needs the nutrients, so if he's hungry, feed him! After all, when you're hungry, don't you eat? Do you eat only two meals a day? I believe ALL cats need at least 3 meals day -- and kittens need 5 to 6.

Frequent feedings for a kitten, you aren't giving them a whole lot of food. Their tummies are small and fill up rather easily. For most people who work and are gone for most of the day, dry food is the only way to go. This allows your kitty to eat when they are hungry. A 9-month old kitty will fare better than a 3-month old kitten in letting it go longer between meals. Sometimes you have to think of your kitten as a baby. Nobody allows their baby to go 10 hours without eating. As "parents," we can only do what we can do. However, if you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, I would recommend a bowl with dry food and plenty of fresh water. My greatest fear was something would happen to me and I wouldn't be able to get home and feed my cat -- and then my kitty would starve. A year ago, I had to rush my husband to the ER and I completely forgot to feed TWO cats. I figured we'd be back home in no time. 14 hours later, I get home to two ravishing cats and I felt horrible. Now, I make sure the dry bowl is filled at all times.

I feed her wet food and i fill her bowl with dry in the morning when i leave. She usually eats half the wet food then and the rest at some other point and grazes on the biscuits through the day. They are never gone completely when i feed her wet food at night so she must have enough :)

I have a water fountain for her so plenty of fresh water :)

I have a water fountain, too. In the cabinet! Raiden thinks it is a toy! And wants to splash in it rather than drink from it.

Indeed, every cat is different. I was given my Bengal from a friend who got him from a rescue. He is 9 years old and weighs 14 lbs.

I finally learned , after several loud conversations with him, that he requires more food than I ever thought a cat would eat. He eats two 6 oz cans of wet every day, plus 1 or 2 portions of raw beef heart or beef kidney.

She had been underfeeding him, and I underfed him initially. He would squawk loudly all day long, and after a while I figured out that he was saying that he was still hungry. Now he is actually quiet most of the time. Which is a good thing, because I like to say that he has a voice that even a mother can't love!

Every cat I've had has been free fed dry and supplement wet, I've never had a problem with a cat self regulating dry and becoming obese. My thoughts on it are that if food is always available they don't have the urge to stuff as much as they can in their face so they tend to eat what they need rather than eating what is available which may overload their tummies or exceed their calories burned through growth and exercise.

Of course as mentioned earlier in this thread, it appears to be a controversial subject. Not going to say I'm "doing things the right way", but I've never had a problem with a feline being obese ( including a couple of cats that stayed with us for about a year ) so it can't exactly be the wrong way either. Just watch those treats.
