Hello all, im new here and am here do to my concerns of my bengal mojo being to fat.
He will not eat raw, ive tried everything, ive tried good foods but have only had luck with feeding him wellness core. His stool is normal and his coat is beautiful but hes fat. Hes active but since he turned 4 hes getting more lazy...i only feed him and my other cat booboo a cup a day combined and shes more lazy and fat as well. If i give them more theres usually some left in the bowl.
Is it normal for him to get a gut?

Brian's post is excellent!!! Bengals are highly active, so weight should not be a problem. Your vet would have mentioned to you that your bengal is overweight. If your bengal has a saggy belly, it is the primordial pouch that many bengals have, which has carried over from the asian leopard cat. Mine has one and everyone asks if he has had kittens. LOL

Bengals are highly muscular and lean. See where your kitty falls on the image that Brian posted. There are weight control cat foods out there. You just have to make sure your bengal eats it and not your other kitty. However, every cat needs an annual vet visit -- and your bengal's weight will be the key. Males generally weigh between 10 and 15 pounds, but I have seen pictures of some weighing much more. Note that IF your bengal is overweight, they weight loss must be slow! A pound loss to a bengal is huge, compared to a pound loss for a human. If you have a scale, step on it and weigh yourself, then grab your kitty and weigh the both of you. Subtract the first weight and you'll know how much your kitty weighs. Mine stays at about 11 pounds. And he will turn 11 in March.

It's true, that primordial pouch can make a cat look really fat! Thomas' would drag the floor sometimes because in the winter it acquired a large ruff of fur on top of everything else.

The other aspect is that Bengals were bred to be muscular and stocky, with dense bones. So they are very solid feeling. Sometimes people don't realize that and are disappointed because they wanted a more svelt and exotic looking animal. But I've grown to love that about them.

My Raiden is not svelt. He is long and lean! My other regular kitty is quite stocky! Solid! In my research and viewing thousands of bengals, I've seen a couple of breeder studs who were stocky and large, but most are really lean and mean!

He is on a lean cat food. Hes very picky too.
He reminds me of a penguin sitting on a egg lol. Hes active very playful. But lazy too haha. I would post a picture but it keeps telling me my files to large.
My vet did say he was a little over weight
But also told me hes the only bengal he sees...

Ouch. Your vet is not familiar with bengals! Thankfully our vet treats not only bengals but savannahs. A bengal will not look like your normal cat. If your boy is under 15 pounds, I wouldn't worry too much. You can try to get him to become more active with playtime. If it is just his gut hanging down -- it's no worry. Research "primordial pouch" and you will learn a lot! Raiden's will drag against some tall grass, too. Many bengals do not have a pouch, but many of them do. It's not a big deal!

Thank you everyone, i did a little research and its the pouch thats hanging down. He looks like hes had kittens lol. Hes only like 16 lbs. Hes big bodied with super long tail.

Then your baby is not overweight! I swore my Raiden was a female who had kittens when I first saw him. When I took him to the vet because he was limping did I find out he was a neutered male! And I thought he was an ocicat. His previous owner let him run outside and he appeared at my house one day. I thought he was a bobcat, actually. When reading up on bengals, I found the primordial pouch thing and knew that was exactly what he had. It sort of sways when he is trotting down the street on our walks. I think your baby is just fine and you have nothing to worry about. I hope you are relieved!
