My 2 boys are almost exactly the same age (10 days apart) from the same breeder and have know each other since they were 10 weeks old. I got them at 13 weeks. They are best friends, always together. Either just hanging out, playing, play fighting (a really big use of their time!) or sleeping. I always felt in their first year that they were closer to each other than to me, and to be honest I was really happy about that, because they spend far more time with each other than with me and that's why I got 2. Power struggles have now been sorted, Spider used to think he could take the lead until one day he pushed too far and Maasai floored him, and now they are apparently equal in almost everything. They actually share (with the occasional growl of course!) But I have noticed recently, that I only get one of their attention at a time. Me and Spider have always had a more tactile relationship, because he is a much more fussy cat, he loves to be picked up and is always around my feet purring. Maasai is a bit of a lone wolf. Affectionate, but only in short bursts and he mostly just loves to sit and examine his territory. Spookable quite easily, whereas Spider wouldnt move if a meteor hit him. Maasai is less confident for sure. But I always thought the reason I didnt get as much fuss was because he was just a traditional Bengal and didnt like being held/cuddled/fussed as much. Anyway, recently I have noticed that if Spider, being as boisterous as he is, gets on my nerves and I shoo him (he may get over eager with his rubs when Im working, or mistake my foot for a toy, or destroy my apartment! All equally as possible) he will always be quite coy for about an hour or so, before he comes back to make friends again. Maasai has recently started using these hours to come and hang out with me and he has been rubbing against me and being so cute! This has never been his character! They both seem fine together still. But this has now extended to me wondering if Maasai's apparent 'bengalness' was just lack of confidence?! Or is he just taking an opportunity for some uninterrupted fussing! I am basically thinking out loud. Thanks for listening!
