Hello guys,

I felt in love with this Bengal but i also have a 2 years old British Short Hair male. I have reserved this cutie for 24h. It was presented as Show Quality Bengal and he is asking for quite a lot of cash. 1.200E. Here are the pictures with him. Am i paying 2 much ?

I have also some questions about the pattern. Isnt it a bit too Yellowish ? Will the yellow become darker in the future ? Is he different from the rest of the world or its a common pattern ? Please let me know anything i should know about him because i have 2 make a decision in 1 day :D

Thanks

I hope I'm not to late in replying. This kitten is a gorgeous warm-pelted bengal. If he has a great personality, I would snatch him up. Bengals do have some "yellow" or "gold" in their pelt, especially warm pelted bengals. I hope you will come back and ask about introducing him to your other kitty.

My Aiko has quite similar colouring, she just has donut rosettes instead of filled ones

Definitely yellow/gold is more common. I'm not sure what your hestiation is. Are you planning on showing this kitty? If so, then it is also important that the pedigree have a lot of Champions down the line. Personality is the #1 thing to look for in a bengal. This kitty is beautiful! If you don't take it, someone else will grab this baby up.

The colouring is great and a very common colouring; I wouldn't have any worries there.

He looks to have a nice head, good features, well proportioned; nose and ears are nice too. Can't really see the tail to get an opinion. Knuckles on his paws look great.

His pattern is nice for those more filled style; but he looks like he should have two toned rosettes but they are too small to show the second tone. This is entirely my opinion; but I'm not a fan of that style of pattern - I like the two-toned style much more.

Some of the pictures do look a little "touched up" (i.e the brightness appears to be a little too bright).

He's still a great looking cat.

As was said previously; the main thing for showing (if that's your intention) with a Bengal is temperament (will they let a stranger hold / poke / prod them because a lot of Bengal will not).

Here's my concern - in the first picture, you can see what looks like liquid in his right eye. It *could* be the lighting; but it looks like his eye is watering a little. If this is the case, that's a concern because it's a symptom of a respiratory infection (corona, herpes or calici). I would ask the question about his eye and make sure they there is no history of any of those viruses.

As usual, Ontario, has given more in-depth advice because she is a great breeder!

Hello guys,

After days and days and days of thoughts ive decided not to buy him and pursue my wildest dream ever....African Serval. I am so close to getting the contract and pay my reservation fee and im gonna collect him in few weeks. Now he is 3 weeks old :D

Thank you very much for your feedback. This is my 2nd cat and 1st was choosed by the heart but Serval is choosed with because of looks and attitude. :)

You are getting a Serval or a Savannah? The Serval is going to require a special permit in most cases because you cannot own a wild cat (depending on where you live). The Savannah is the result of breeding the Serval with a bengal or other domestic cat. That's a whole different story. You need to know exactly what you are getting. Savannah's grow up to 30 pounds and are huge cats that can actually put their paws on your kitten counter. Kittens should never be handed over until they are 12 to 14 weeks old, so you have a while to go yet.

Good luck and hope you will share photos.

I am sorry to say that I do not agree servals should be house pets. They are wild animals and should be either in an animal sanctuary or in the wild where they came from. There is a great fashion-fad in these animals. Often, I believe, they are smuggled in. There is a booming trade in them, a testimony to human greed, arrogance, and stupidity. I am not calling YOU "stupid." I would never suggest such a thing. But in my opinion - and you may have bought this animal already - you are buying into a trade that should not exist.

I feel it's a little hypocritical of us to be skeptical of wild cats when we own Bengals. I have no problem with people owning wild cats provided they know what they're in for and take proper care to pamper the animal.

There is a huge difference between a Serval and a Bengal. The Serval is a wild cat. It would be like owning an Asian Leopard Cat. However, 99% of municipalities do not allow just anyone to own a wild cat without a permit and those are usually given to breeders only. A Savannah is a totally different thing. A serval is bred with a domestic cat -- just like the Asian Leopard cat to get a bengal. Savannahs are a newer breed and breeders are working hard to get the F generations up. Just like a bengal -- An F4 Savannah is considered a domestic cat. Thing is -- one most know these things before even considering a hybrid cat.

I know those things. But to me, saying that people shouldn't own wild cats while petting a Bengal is like saying people shouldn't hunt wild game for meat while eating a burger. Where so you think Bengals came from? A pair of star crossed cats?
