I just got a kitten a couple weeks ago. She is a few days shy of three months but at the vet she weighed in at 1.9lbs. The vet told me she's tiny but not in a skin aND bones type of way. Has anyone else had a kitten this small at that age and did they grow to be an average weight adult bengal?

Are you sure about the age of the kitty? That is really not much for her to weigh at 3 months. The average weight should be one pound per month. So, your kitty is a good pound underweight IF the kitty is three months old. How is her appetite and are you making sure she eats several times a day and you are not limiting the amount of food she eats at a meal. Kittens need to grow. If you feel she isn't eating enough, try a different type or brand of food.

She is a beauty.

Yea we got her from a pet store who receiver her from a breeder we are just waiting on the paperwork. She was sick for a week with a uri and wasn't eating much but has been better. We keep dry food out and feed her about 3 ozs of wet food a day few 3 separate feedings. And thank you she is such a sweetheart

My little girl was 0.4kg at 13 weeks (0.88lbs) when she was weighed at the vet but she was a super small runt. I brought her home at 14 weeks so she wont have been much heavier than that. Thankfully my girl was in proportion very affectionate and outgoing and a good eater just sadly she was on the small side.

She's not huge now 22 weeks 2.2kg (4.85lbs) but she's grown a ton since I brought her home. I had her on dry down all day (80% meat protein no grain no filler) and she was also on 4 small meals per day of high protein wet food (with a small kitten feed as high a quality as she will eat and don't limit amounts on wet food either feed her whenever she is hungry you want her to grow) with added Nutrical kitten high calorie vitamin paste. I would check though that your little girl is actually that age but also keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't have any health issues as to why she's that size, it's true that sometimes in a litter they can get one super small kitten especially if it's a large litter (my girl was one of 5 and she's also from show breeder where all her siblings where normal sized) did you see any of the other kittens? Where they all small?

As you can tell she's grown a lot in the time since I brought her home but it's been a lot of hard work. I've since moved her over to raw feeding as my boy has a chicken allergy and can't seem to stomach dry well so it was easier to switch both over to raw although she's a little piggy and loves her meat so works out better for her anyway.

Arya 14 weeks
when I brought her home with her tiny kitty bunny and my hand for size

Arya today 22 weeks
She's still a bit smaller than average but nothing to worry about really and I still expect her to be around 8lbs full grown with how she's growing and filling out now

Yep she's a big girl now  she finally looks like Griff's little sister instead of his kitten now. Plus he's always been on the larger side for a male kitten

What's funny with my two is Griff has been the worst one health wise, mainly due to his chicken allergy (which also seems linked to his eye infections that kept reoccurring and his runny tummy) and how easily he gets stressed out. Arya on the other hand has always been super easy once I got her over the 1kg mark. She was just a bit worrying when she could fit in my hand and that was more me worrying she would get hurt. I think a lot is down to if they are a really good eater or not as you can always build a tiny one up with the right nutrition and regular feeds and supplements it's just about having the time to do it cos she has been a full time job for the past couple of months.

I never regret getting her cos she's such a loving little girl she's become my shadow these days and comes when I call her etc. I do think though that when someone gets a tiny one they need to be aware that it's a big job and it's like having a premature baby for a while. It will also cost more money in supplements and more high calorie feeding than the average kitten.

But it is possible to make them grow lol I actually look back at her baby photos now and find it hard to believe she was ever that tiny.
