I got my lovely snow Bengal (Tamsin) spayed when she was 5 months and now at a little over a year the hair that grew back is way longer than the rest of her coat is honestly something i really dislike. Is there anyway to help restore that hair to normal or do I have to just deal with it. I love her to pieces but wish her coat was uniform like before.

This is interesting and thks for sharing. Its my first time hearing this I've only read about cases whereby either the fur takes a long time to grow back (6 mths) or unable to achieve same length as others even after a long time. So the owner will either give him the appropriate medication(vitamins etc.) , rub with some coconut oil or else have to wait patiently for the next shed of hair and see what happens.

Though not furr expert here but I'd suggest a simple solution of bringing her to a grooming session to trim back her longer hairs. Problem solved quickly and see if that portion would grow longer again..

While the other option will be too extreme..she'll look like a Sphynx cat...p

I am no expert. My Raiden was shaved last week for an ultrasound. They did the lower abdomen and one side of him. He looks strange, to say the least. The fur has started to grow back, but it will take a while since his pelt is about 3/8" thick. I can clearly see his rosettes. I will say that Raiden's fur on his belly is usually longer than the fur on his sides or back. I love running my fingers through it as he loves tummy tickles. Now it feels funny to just be touching skin.

I don't think there is anything you can do about it, but enjoy it!

Some bengals have a prominent primordial stomach that also grows a ruff of long hair. So that may be what is happening here, and it just looks wierd right now.

I will look into taking her to a groomer then! Thanks so much for all the replies! She is a lovely little cat and once I figure out how to use this site more I will look into posting some pictures of her for anyone that is interested. Of course I will make sure the patch of hair is visible as well.

When Pearl's fur grew back it was much darker on the side she was spayed, once she moulted a few times it became the same colour as the other side.
Magic has a tummy pouch I call it his mouse pouch, most cats I know get a baggy belly as they get older, when I took Magic for his vaccinations 2 weeks ago she wobbled his belly and said he was overweight last year he was 17.56 kilos this year he is 16.76 kilos. So he's lost a little bit but I do find that a lot of the vets don't know that much about bengals and they just go by a chart that says what a cat should be.

Should be 16-17 pounds. 16-17 kgs would be a mutant or an ocelot, LOL. Even the World's heaviest cat (Meow) in 2012 died at only two years old, looking like Jabba the Hutt.

16 lbs for a female is still a huge ! She must be on steroids..lol. Cuz Avg females only weigh 8-12 lbs wjile makes 10-15 lbs. I'm not sure my male kitty can even hit 12 lbs, LOL.

What is she eating btw? Live mice? p
