Please keep us updated with all the test results. Did the vet pull the fluid? I know there is a term for that, I just can't think what the term is right now. I'm wondering with the heart thing if it is HCM. Have you had him tested for that? It's common in bengals, unfortunately. Cats with it don't usually live long lives either.

We always take our cats' good health for granted and then when they suddenly don't feel well, we are in panic mode! There are so many things that can cause a change in behavior. And only extensive and expensive testing can sometimes show what's going on. There are medical issues that can be treated and the cat can live a long life. Others conditions shorten the lives drastically. I am really hoping that your little guy will bounce back. I know it's so hard on you, the owner. You feel helpless because there isn't anything you can do. We'd like to follow your story, so please keep us posted. {{{HUGS}}}

Thank you all so much for your support here, having a Bengal is a massive learning curve!

HCM wasn't mentioned, vet seemed very thorough and wasn't overly worried about the angle of his heart, just wanted to cover all bases by checking with a specialist. Water on the intestine was minimal and I think had gone by the next day when he had his xray, again wasn't overly worried but with other symptoms became a red flag.

Not counting chickens but energy levels have been increasing day by day and looking a lot brighter. Seemed to turn a corner yesterday and got out, went straight over the fence and back 15 min later after 'acquiring' the neighbours cats toy mouse. That has now become his new toy of choice to play fetch with in the evening (neighbour knows, she's fine about it). This morning has been up for a few hours playing all morning, during the week would have been back to sleep within the hour and little / no play.

We've decided to let him out again so long one of us is at home, he doesn't tend to roam far but if he starts to go downhill again will keep him in until test results. Will keep posted if any changes.

Ok so latest update (sorry had to wait for the Easter weekend):

Seemed a lot brighter for most of the weekend, started going out exploring more again. Was really frightened when going out the front though so something must have spooked him. Was a bit more sleepy Saturday but is growing a bit at the moment.

Sooo FIP test, was positive- I almost burst in to tears! However I think there is a lot of confusion and misinformation surrounding FIP, the vet said 50% of cats have it and 1 in 10 die from it. There is so much confusion around all this, I assume vet means he's got the virus (like most cats) so just be aware if he shows signs... not meaning to stir up the whole FIP debate.

Typical, was booked in for 6 month treatment today following his poorly spell, went out to get him, in the garden already and he's got a puncture wound in his foot and swelling. Driving down the road, found his collar.. out the front so he's obviously not very friendly with one of the neighbours. Vets got him on road to recovery, xray if no improvement in 48 hrs.

Original xray that showed the heart at an angle, vet checked with someone who's very knowledgeable and isn't concerned. It's just 'normal' for him. Specialist still hasn't got back (could be on leave) but will only hear if there is any concern.

Still a cuddly little munchkin, love him to bits!

There are two types of FIP - dry and wet. I'm no expert on either or the difference between the two. You might want to find what type and research it. Maybe someone else on here knows more than I do. Is it from the Corona Virus? I don't know and I do know there are topics on this forum that deal with this, so check out the Health section and read some topics dealing with this.

I am happy to hear that he has perked up. I am just so sorry about the diagnosis. Please keep in touch with us here.
