Hey Duckegg, any updates on your wee one?
I read your post with trepidation as I lost 2 kittens last year to FIP and it was starting to sound eerily similar. I really hope it's something simple that will clear up easily.
TraceyChops, sorry to hear that.. that is so sad. We had cats for years and FIP has never even been on the radar! It's my biggest fear, feeling sick at the thought. Ok so he had XRay's everything was fine except his heart is at a bit of an angle (closer to his chest), so they did an ultrasound and cardiac checks. All fine, but sending xrays to a specialist just to be sure. Urology test was fine, waiting on FIP (first time I've hated the thought of a 4 day weekend!). He was looking a bit brighter at the vets.
I was told that generally with FIP they once they go downhill they don't tend to bounce back.
So K2 (our little monkey) has been a little more playful every day, but gentler. Though last night we had quite a bit of entertainment as he seemed to be getting towards full Bengal mode again, and that was after some playing earlier in the afternoon. I took him out in the garden (enclosed) during the day just to see if he had climbing strength for the fence post, and yep 2 attempts but got up there.
General behavior, still quieter than normal. Spending a lot of time sitting at the window but with no obvious desire to go out (would usually let us know). Still sleeping a lot, but I'm going to take the signs of stronger play, that he's still engaging with us and anything dangling down he goes for as a positive. Food, water toilet all still normal, food might be slightly less (or me slightly paranoid) but with decreased activity it's understandable. Anxious wait on this result now.. fingers crossed!
