Dry Kibble - Is it okay to dampen it?

Matt, it is imperative you find a dry food Miko will eat. Three meals a day for a new kitten is not enough! So many cat owners work full time jobs, so it is impossible for them to do any more than they can. But, having some dry food out for Miko to fill in the void will help. If not, he will be screaming for food as his tummy is empty. And ... what's wrong with your setting your alarm for 3 a.m. and getting up and feeding Miko? :biggrin:

I've been in your shoes, Jagger wouldn't touch dry food initially, not even what the breeder said he ate! It did take a while, I found some he would eat for a bit and then decide he didn't like anymore, so I'd be back to square 1. Eventually I found a dry food he loves and he's been eating that for a good couple of years now with no issues.

I just started giving him the new dry food straight away as once he's decided he doesn't like something, if that something touches the food he does like, he leaves everything. Jagger has an iron stomach though unlike his brother.

You'll find something Miko will eat eventually. The food I feed Jagger is a UK brand so not sure you can get it there, but it's called Meowing Heads, Hey Good Looking just in case. All natural and good quality ingredients etc.

Is there an online company you can try? Chewy.com or something? I know a lot of the US based members use that. Sometimes these companies do trial packs.

Matt, once again, you're over thinking and over worrying! Just hang in there. Miko is going to be fine if he is eating the wet food you give him three times a day. I don't know about "mixing" dry food! I'm sure you're probably going to be dumping some (wildlife also enjoy dry cat food). But, the key is going to be the flavor. Is Miko into seafood or chicken or turkey or beef? The vast majority of cats do enjoy chicken, so give that a try. I've posted before that it would be great for stores to sell sample sizes, so you're not investing in a larger bag of food. I know I went on Chewy.com and purchased some smaller one-pound bags for Raiden -- and he didn't care for any of it! He would eat it, but it took him a very long time to get through a bag.

So far I have tried these: Nature's Variety Raw Instinct and Orijen Adult Cat/Kitten Food. Both are mainly chicken/turkey and they both smell the same.

I bought three new ones today: Acana Wild Prairies, Acana Grasslands and Ziwi Peak Lamb flavor. Prairies is also chicken/turkey I think, but grasslands is mainly duck/lamb. And the Ziwi peak is just lamb. (And dang, ziwi peak is pricy here. $28+tax for a 400g bag lol).

Just offered a two small 15 g bowls of the grasslands and ziwi peak, but no interest so far. Will keep trying. Wish I read your post Sherry before I went to the store today, I should have tried the more expensive Venison/Fish mix that Ziwi peak does (instead of getting two lamb options).
