Hi - new member here

We have only just had our two brown rosetted male Bengals for five days so we're very new to all of this!

The two kittens don't have names yet - we're waiting to see their personalities come through. They came from a established breeder having been neutered, vaccinated etc.

At the time of writing they are just starting to come out of their hiding place under the kitchen settee to play, they were a little scared and shocked to be re-homed poor boys! Hopefully this jet-lagged period is nearly over, they're starting to get used to us and closer interaction and play is coming.

I've been around cats all my life with moggies and Siamese and think I understand them, this is our first experience of Bengals and I'm relishing the challenge!

I have been researching on this forum quite a lot and found it a great source of information. I'll maybe add our experiences as time goes by as well as seek guidance and advice.

Welcome! Hope we can get some photos of your lovely boys! And looking forward to learning their names. We had planned our girls' names well in advance but once we got them we just realised one of them needed a new name, so she was "Stinky" for a week before we decided to call her Echo.

They're still wary of us, we haven't held them or done that much stroking really so that is one of our concerns (poorly socialised) so photos are fleeting mobile phone ones that don't do them justice!

We're in the U.K. by the way, realising that this forum reaches around the globe.

In the behaviour thread we have a member new to Bengals MWB, who has been asking lots of pertinent questions - a look through those threads might be useful to you.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your babies. These little ones have been stressed out by the flight and the move from their mom and siblings to your home. Just give them space, time, and patience and they will come out of their shell as they gain confidence in their new surroundings. You are doing all the right things. The best thing is to grab a couple of wand toys an try to engage them in playtime. Don't worry, soon they will be zooming about your head -- hopefully you have a nice tall cat tree for them. Bengals are a challenge, but they definitely will enrich and change your life.

It's getting better rapidly I'm pleased to say

Playing is definitely the key, and once well tired out we have been sneaking closer physical contact

We've named them after roman gladiators and chose Augustus & Maximus (that's Gus and Max!)

Most photos a bit sub standard thus far, but one of Max to come. They're VERY alike

Are you going to give them pedigreed names if you register them? The names you've chosen are great.

As for posting pictures, you can set up a Photo Bucket account and set it to public and post the link to the photos. If the photo is less than 256k, you can post it directly in your posting box. Image Shack is great until you finish with the trial period and they want $$$. You can no longer access your pictures.

Okay, it took a while, but a beautiful picture did pop up.

It works. Max is a very handsome boy :) Curious if you know his weight

They are six months old so not exactly kittens, certainly not the kittens my two daughters may have had in mind before we sat them down to make sure they understood these two are going to be different...

I think Matt asked the weight question as he just got his bengal and may want some comparisons. That being said, there doesn't seem to be an "average" for any bengal. We have some hefty boys here and mine is not very big at just over 12 pounds. He will be 10 years old in March.
