Well, raccoons, skunks and possums are not predators here -- at least not toward cats. They do, however, forage for food and we have bird feeders out and they are always under them at night. It would take a lot of dropped sunflower seeds to fill a creature like that.

Our main predator here is the coyote and they live in the woods behind our house. They do not come up close and I realized there are several fences that criss-cross through the woods and they would have to get past those. We can hear them howling some nights.

More than the coyotes, I worry about other tom cats and the fighting that can go on until the "death" of a cat. The outdoor cat I take care of was just in a bad fight, but I think the other cat got the worst of it. I hate seeing any cat outdoors due to the things that can harm them.

And you know you gotta be careful of those terrorizing bengals.

Ahh, I thought that raccoons at least would target a cat - though I was perhaps relying on Hollywood as a source of information.

The raccoons don't bother the cats. Raiden used to want to go after them, but there is no fighting. The outdoor cat I take care of can be sitting on the deck and a raccoon can walk right past him with no issue. He does stay away from the skunks, however.

My friend's cat was ripped apart by a possum and I would not trust a raccoon. They are creepy scavengers that eat anything. They roam through our neighborhood in packs. At night I see them scurrying right outside my patio screening. The cats stand at my bedroom doors and watch them in the moonlight. In the morning people's garbage is all over the banks of the lake, they even move my rat bait stations all over the back yard. I wish our board would hire someone to trap and relocate them but they say they can come over the walls and it would be pointless.

The raccoons live in the woods behind us. Had a little baby one who was not afraid of me. Legs is usually not around overnight anyway. He did get close to the skunk because he wanted to drink water out of the bird baths and the skunk raised its tail, and Legs scooted away. I chase the raccoons away if I see them, but they are here, eat the leftover seeds and leave.

Just been on the Bengal Cat helpline Facebook page and interestingly, Debbie Connolly who is 'quoted' in the article has said "Pity the paper didn't actually call me for proper quotes so people could be helped to understand this amazing breed".

Unfortunately, due to Thomas' size he has been the subject of this kind of garbage. My next door neighbor shrieked at him and scared him badly, and some people actually think he will run up and bite them!

He did head butt me out of a chair once, we had to have a talk about that.
