Hi,

Just a short note to introduce myself and my partner....will soon be moving in our new house and am also waiting for our silver bengal in a months time as he is still 4/5weeks old.

Always had cats, strays and persians, but never a bengal :)

We are really excited! :surprised:

Thanks,

James

Welcome, James. Boy, are you and your partner in for a GREAT adventure! Bengals are not like your strays or persians. They are a breed of their own. I hope you're prepared for what they bring to the table. Spend some time reading topics on here or elsewhere online to prepare yourself. You have enough time to prepare. Make sure you have a safe room for the litle one when he arrives. He will be scared and stressed out by leaving his mom and siblings and coming to a new home with new smells and new people. Have his litter box and food/water there plus cat beds. Spend time in there talking to him. He may want to hide where he feels safe. Let him find his comfort zone. It won't take long before he will be zooming about your head. Get a tall cat tree, have plenty of scratching posts around the house to save your furniture. Lots of toys, too, as a daily play session or two will be necessary. You're used to having cats that sleep a lot and don't bother you for attention -- that's not a bengal. They have more energy that you ever will, they are very vocal and will cry or yowl for no reason, they are very social and want to be where you are at all times, and they are quite demanding. However, the love and affection they show and their beauty and sweet personality more than make up for any of the challenges that come along with owning the breed.

This is probably a lot more information than you want to know, but you truly need to be prepared for the change in your life. Good luck and congratulations.

Hi there!

Very excited for you, however you said that the kitten is now 4 weeks old, and you will be getting it in a month? That means it will only be 8 weeks when you bring it home?
Most reputable breeders will not let their kittens leave until they are at least 12 weeks old. Did you do your research before you decided on a breeder?

Thanks for your interest. Sorry my mistake. Will have our kitten at 13 weeks of age

Is the parent in the photo sorrel/cinnamon or is it just the photo? They tend to be a colour you very rarely see unlike the blues which are becoming a lot more popular now.

Leonidas is a cutie and welcome to the world of bengals. Lmao now I have This is Sparta stuck in my head.

Welcome,

Very cute little kitty. From persians to bengals huh? It doesn't get more opposite than that!

Yes that is the actual colour of his mum actually as I saw it live. Father on the other hand is silver.

I would love to see more photos of her if you manage to take any such a pretty colour really not sure if she's cinnamon or just a very bright (Rufused) brown as there's some dark on her front legs. I assumed the dad was probably the silver as you need a silver parent to have a silver kitten as it doesn't carry and is the dominant gene if they get it.

Should be interesting though to see if he's a normal silver(brown) I'm not sure if you can get silver cinnamon or not as people don't know as much about the colour. With the silver gene what it does is remove the brown colour well some of it anyway depends on the breeding some silvers get brown on their face back and feet left over but you don't really know how much tarnish will stay until they get their adult coat in.

I look forward to seeing more photos
