I don't know how actively I will be posting at first, but I wanted to say hi.
I'm not new to cats at all but it has been a while, and I've never had a purebred cat, just mixes that people drop off on my doorstep. I'll be picking up my first bengal baby tomorrow! He is pet-only since he is melanistic. But I'm still super super excited.

I'm an active person and I've been wanting a Bengal for a while since they seem active enough to keep up with me and my huskies. My huskies are both very gentle with cats, but I also have a collie who is very maternal toward kittens.

I've spent the last week kitten-proofing (which wasn't particularly difficult, considering one of my huskies likes to stand on top of my refrigerator). It's going to be entertaining around here adding a kitty to the mix!

His name is Robin Hood (just Robin for short)
I just got home from picking him up and he is a little scared but so perfect! I couldn't be happier with him.

I'm not sure what you mean by that... melanistic bengal is a very very special cat!! They are rare and some people travel to the ends of the earth in search of one.

Oh my! You have nooooo idea what you are in for then! Your bengal will be able to get into SO many places that your dogs are incapable of going.

Please keep posting pictures! I cannot wait to see him full grown. What a special cat you have  As Brian says.........prepare yourself and expect the unexpected. If you can't find him.........look up..... as he will probably be swinging from the light fitting or something!

Robin is just gorgeous. Melanistic cats are very special. I don't believe they are allowed in cat shows, which I why you mentioned pet only, but they are rare and stunning kitties. Let's see if YOU can keep up with Robin! He will be a holy terror for a long while yet! It may take him a few days to get settled in. Very traumatic going to a strange new home. Let him go at his own pace and investigate things. Hopefully your doggies will be welcoming and they will be best buds. Congratulations.

He is beautiful. My son has a melanistic and a snow spotted and they are a total nightmare together. Our boy is a brown spotted and loves to jump on top of the kitchen cupboards!
