Hi. My name is Miranda. I have recently gotten my first bengal kitty. She was born February 3, 2016. I brought her home may 10. She is the craziest kitty! She thinks she is starving, all the time. Even when she has just finished eating to the point that she is bloating herself. Is this normal for bengals? She loves snuggling on my fake fur blankets and sucking on them. She is very energetic, which is awesome

Welcome Miranda! Congratulations on your new kitten! My two kittens experience that big appetite too. It was almost comical how they would spin in circles and meow as I put the dish down. They inhaled the food in seconds then climbed my body trying to eat my dinner! I would hold my plate over my head and they would leap up my arm! Turns out I wasn't feeding them enough so I increased the amount of food and frequency of meals which helped some, and eventually at about a year old they calmed down a bit at dinner time. They are still motivated by food. That is how I get them in the house and how I am able to exit the house without them running out.

They say to free feed, but my two don't know when to stop and I work so here is how I fed them when they were kittens. We got up before the sun and I gave them a 3 oz high quality can of wet food to share. Then at 8:30 when I went to work, I would put out about half a cup of good quality dry food. I had an automatic feeder that opened at 11 and again at 3 with half a cup of dry food in each dish for them to share. When I came home around 6:30 I would give them another 3 oz can of wet food to share and before bed I gave them about 1/3 cup of dry food to share. That helped calm them down and sleep through the night.

Hi Miranda. Welcome to our forum! Congratulations on your bengal baby! Kittens usually need to eat 5 to 6 times a day. They have little tummies and are just like infants -- frequent feedings for them. So don't be afraid to give her a little more food more often. She needs to grow!!!

Glad to hear you are enjoying her. Her energy will not diminish as she grows older -- YOU will, grow older, on the other hand, and it's hard to keep up with a bengal!

thank you all for the advice, I'll up her portions for now I guess. its been approximately 7 years since my last kitten, so getting used to the care of a kitten is taking some work. but thats alright.

Bengals are totally different from your regular cat. They are very high energy even after the kitten stage. Bengals are long and lean as adults, but kittens are a different story. Your baby is less than five months old so she is going to need the extra feedings.
