I'm not sure which forum to post this in so, mods, feel free to move this if I'm in the wrong place :).

I'm a very new Bengal owner (got my first two weeks ago tomorrow!), and I'll be getting a second kitten from the same breeder in a few weeks. My first will be about 18 weeks old by the time #2 arrives - he will be ~13 weeks then. They did live and interact with each other before Holly moved in with us, but I suspect they won't have any recollection of each other by the time Simon gets here.

Holly settled in really quickly, but my understanding is that Simon is more cautious and less accepting of changes than she is (from talking with the breeder). He does sound like a very sweet and affectionate kitten, just a less confident personality. I'm expecting that his transition will take longer.

Any words of wisdom about how to get them used to each other and how long it might take them to get be comfortable with each other? I've never had two cats (or kittens for that matter).

Congratulations on your new babies. Since they are from the same breeder and have been separated for several weeks, I would do the "safe room" and keep them separated for a couple of weeks and do the scent swapping with towels or blankets. Whatever the kitties lay on, swap them out with the other so the scent becomes familiar. We have had instances where two kittens have been introduced immediately and got along great from the get-go. But, I would try the safe room for the new kitten (litter box, food, water, toys, bed) and see how it goes from there. There will not be a huge age difference in them and I think you can bring the new kitten out to play. If they show any aggression toward each other, separate them. Hissing and growling are normal. Attacking is not. Do not leave them together unsupervised until they are buddies. This should really not take very long, They are young kittens and should not be territorial. Hope things go well for you and the babies. Keep us posted.

Kitten #2 is here and the transition for kitten #1 is more stressful than I had hoped. We introduced them last night and Holly hisses and growls a LOT at our new little guy (pretty much non-stop when she sees him), and has swatted once or twice (we've swiftly intervened when this happens and he hasn't gotten hurt). He is quite timid personality-what she compared to her, but he doesn't seem too bothered by the growls and hisses. He does hide when she's around so I bring her into see him for a bit and then take her out of the room when she starts to act more aggressive toward him.

How long does this angry stage typically last? Should I be doing something different to help them get used to each other?

A couple of cute pics :). I can't wait for them to be friends. Any advice would be more than welcome.

Haha, yes, of course they have names :). Our older kitten is Holly (18 weeks) and our newer guy is Simon (13 weeks).

Thanks for your reply, Brian. Imostly kept them apart today so Simon would feel more like this is his home, too, and he seems a bit more confident tonight. I had been separating them when Holly started to follow him around or swipe at him, but I didn't intervene when she was growling and hissing. I'll try as you suggested, and try for a fun setting and cutting it short as soon as she starts being aggressive.

They are adorable babies! Spend some time engaging them both in play with toys. They look like they have some energy that needs to be burned off! Just be patient with things. It can take some time. Cat personalities are different -- they will be best buddies soon.

After a few days, it was like someone flipped a switch and the kittens are, sure enough, the best of friends now! They groom each other, and cuddle, and wrestle, and follow each other around. It's working out wonderfully :)
