i've seen youtube videos of people vaccum cleaning their cats and the cats are perfectly ok with it, how on earth do they do this without making the cat panic?

is there any cat friendly vacs (silent preferably) that can be used for cleaning loose hairs off my cat in place of using a brush? this is safe right?

I have never seen a silent vacuum, but that is the only way one of my cats would allow this. I think it's the sound that scares them away. Even the hair dryer makes mine run off. I have seen that video too and wondered if that cat is deaf.

Mine hate the hoover! If I tried to vacuum them I wouldnt even come close, they would be off lole lightning! Why would you want to do this though?!

I think it totally depends on your cat. Some cats are so chilled you can use a vacuum and it probably feels like a nice massage! Other cats head for the hills the minute you plug the vacuum in! If you have a cat that likes rough/deep cuddles and scratches and is not at all bothered by noise you could give it a go

You'd have to first ask yourself why on earth you'd want to vaccum your cat. It's just not a very nice thing to do to your cat, period. Cats are fastidious with their grooming, and 99.9% of the time they don't need our help in that department. Plus they hate loud noises. They can hear well outside the frequency range that we can, so it may cause them physical pain to hear something like that.

The second thing is that if vacuuming your cat really were something that everyone could easily do, there would be no novelty in a video demonstrating that.

Yes, I saw the bloody video also... it's kind of amusing, but it's also a mean thing to do to one's cat.

You Probably seen my tigger being hoovered with a dyson. Everytime I try to hoover, he is there meowing for th hoover. I think he likes it and even lays down for me to do his belly. He likes rough cuddles like a dog. He also likes the hair dryer blowing on him too and is definitely not deaf. It all depends on the cat.

Wow that's so unusual. But I agree all cats are different. My one cat can't even take being brushed. When I pet her I use a very light touch barely pressing down at all. She is very sensitive and likes to be close but on her terms. She lets me know when I can pet her normally. Usually when she is settling down for a nap.

My other cat loves to be brushed and will come to me several times demanding it. I can brush her hard and she loves it. I can also pat her sides and back and she like that too and keeps coming back for more. It's funny how different they are about connecting with their human.

The only time I need to help groom my bengal is in the spring when he sheds a little. But, he sheds VERY little! I have a central vacuum system where the motor/noise is in the garage. He can still hear the "swoosh" of the air and doesn't like it. I wouldn't dream of using it on him. The outdoor cat I take care of his shedding like crazy and I go out a few times a day and comb him as much as he will let me.

It may be a novelty that a cat will enjoy being vacuumed, but I believe it is extremely rare. Cats generally take care of cleaning themselves and I would not want to do that for them.
