Hey guys. Just wanted to pick your brains a little about experience with bengals and moving house. I have had to relocate for work today and I have to admit I was a bit nervous about how the cats would take to it. They didnt enjoy the drive, but they never enjoy being in the car, and the first couple of hours they both definitely seemed to be on edge in the new place. Not a purr to be heard, even from Spider who normally never stops. We are about 6 hours in the new flat now and I have kept them just in one room to acclimatise themselves. I have an extra bedroom now, which is essentially going to be their room where they eat and sleep, so I figured it was best to use that one. It will take me a few days to get everything sorted out so I was thinking about leaving them in there until the rest of the apartment is all set up, first to give them a 'safe space' kind of like when you get a new kitten, but also to give me freedom to get on and organise everything. Im not sure though, I dont want to keep them cooped up unnecessarily, but at the same time I want to avoid any potential pitfalls! I dont want them getting confused or stressed out and not to use the litter box for example. They are only just turned one, so still very young. What do you guys think?

Moving is usually an interesting saga with cats. You are doing things exactly right! Keep them in one room until you can get things organized and unpacked, especially when opening the door bringing in your possessions. This keeps them safe as you are in a new area and they would not know what to do if they got outdoors.

Hopefully, this situation will only be for a few days. If things are pretty much put away, then allow them access to the rest of the place and put them back in their room when it's time for bed for them. It is going to take them a little while to acclimate to a new home, but keeping them safe and inside are the most important things.

Congratulations on your new home.

Thanks Sherry! We have already had one incident with the bedroom door not properly latching while we were moving in all my stuff. I thought for a minute that Spider had gotten out into the street. My heart jumped out of my chest! luckily he was just investigating where I couldn't see him

Sorry you had such a scare! These little munchkins can sneak out quickly. I know you now make sure that door is shut tight! I'm sure things will be back to normal in a couple of days.
