What a cutie pie. Congratulations!!! You are in for a true adventure. Happy he settled in so quickly. It does take some time for them to acclimate to a new environment and new people. This little one was just taken from mom and siblings, so be patient. Accidents will happen. You might want to add another litter box just so he doesn't have to travel very far to use one. What are a handful of steps for you are hundreds of steps for the little one.

Normally what one would do when they get a new kitten, is to keep the kitten in a single room, and in fact choose a room that *does* have hiding places with the expectation that the kitten will use them (never "pry him out" of a hiding place). A kitten needs to decide on his own that things are "ok" and "not scary" before they can feel good about their surroundings. And it's not a simple one-time thing, it usually takes places over the course of a couple weeks or so. The other benefit to being confined to a single room for a while is that you can put a litterbox in that room, with the same litter in it as he had at the breeder's. That way, he always knows where his litterbox is, and has a high percentage chance of accepting it and using it.

A few accidents the first day is a little worrisome, at least it would be to me. You really need to try to fix that right away. Whether that means finding a box or litter combo that he likes better, adding more boxes, or making sure that he's never far from a box for the first couple of weeks. What you don't want is that it becomes a habit, or that the urine sinks into things and then it becomes the "pee place".

He's beautiful! Congratulations!

Yeah he is currently in one room and has plenty of places to hide like under a unit and behind sofas etc. He also has 2 litter boxes with the exact same as breeder as this is what they sell when you pick them up, one box is on one side of the room and one on the other near where he has had a accident. We left him alone the 1st day until he wanted to come out and have a wonder, he would go from one hiding place to another.

This morning he was fine sitting with us playing and seems absolutely fine, I'm only conserned with his water intake at the moment I haven't seen him drink anything yet. I have even tried wetting my hand and dripping it into his mouth for him to lick. Hopefully he will start drinking and also no2 toilet hasn't happened yet so we are waiting for this also.

He is on whiskers at the moment as that's what the breeder had him on but he will be going onto a raw food diet this week. I will slowly intrudce it to him bit by bit.

Raw is the ideal diet imho. If he is eating some of the canned food, he may not need much water. Make sure you offer the water in a separate place from his food and his litter. If he is widdling, he is getting enough water.

Wet food contains a lot of moisture! Mine doesn't drink much water at all. The going #2 thing is sometimes normal -- they seem to be constipated or have diarrhea. When you get a new kitten, you should always take it to the vet within the first few days for a complete checkup and get a medical record started. Many breeder contracts state 72 hours. You might want to check yours. Your home is brand new to him. He has no "territory" yet. All these new smells and new people. It is overwhelming to a little bitty kitty.

It doesn't worry me that he is not going in the litter box I just don't want him to get used to doing it where ever he wants as it does smell a bit. Hopefully in time he will use his box, going two get different tray and litter to see if that helps. With regards to taking him to the vet he had to health checks and all vacations done by the breeders vet, would we still need to take him to get checked? Don't think the contract had anything stating that a vet health check was required by a certain time, just need to send the breeder details when he has been neutered

He is cute, chip him if he isn't, they are escape artists. If you have mini blinds, cut out loops and trim the strings, dangerous to active breeds. Good luck and welcome.

Aww, super adorable! Happy he's used the litter box and hopefully he will continue to do that. If your breeder had his vaccinations done, you should have gotten medical records from the breeder that you can then give to your vet when you take him in next time. If your contract does not stipulate a vet visit, then one should not be necessary unless he starts acting differently and appears to be not well. He's so cute, I just want to eat him up!
