My one year old Bengal is being sick, she started yesterday. She not touched her food for a couple of days and what she has eaten has come back up, she's taking water still. She's not quiet herself a little quiet but up for the odd play! Her nose is still nice and wet and she has no other signs of illness, has anyone else experienced this? I have called the emergency bets and they wasn't to concerned as she's still willing to play. This has happened once before with her but not quiet as bad.

One of mine was so ill the other day that I thought he was going die. I took him to 2 the vets and neither one of them knew what was going on. After speaking to them though, do you know that if you take their temperature and measure their breathing rate and heart rate at home you can get a good idea how serious it is?

I dont mean to come off as arrogant either.....but Im a medical doctor, and everything the vet described for the cats was the same for humans. Were mammals. And the first things that are checked when you approach medicinal care, be it animal or human, are temp, resp rate and heart rate, They dictate your managemnent. So all I meant was, if you check them at home first, if youre comfortable doing that, then you can put the situation into context and potentially put your mind at rest x

Thanks for the replies. She has eat a teaspoon of fresh chicken this morning, just hoping it stays down! I'm happy to check her temperature and heart rate but have no idea how to do so on a cat, I will google it though and do it right away. I will be calling the vets again as soon as I've dropped the kids at school.

Any time your kitty becomes lethargic, vomiting, and stops eating, this is cause for concern. Once a cat has not eaten for 48 hours, the chance of Fatty Liver Disease showing up is great. This can be fatal and cannot be treated after a certain point. I had an outdoor moggie get locked up in a garage for FOUR days. I'm pretty sure he found some mice to eat, but the vet was definitely concerned about the fatty liver disease. It usually shows its face when the cat starts eating and the cat shows signs of being ill! The cat is fine, but when my bengal shows the first signs and hasn't eaten in a day, he's off to the vet. Just getting any food down the cat and keeping it down is good -- but there is probably a parasite in the digestive tract that needs medication. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Thanks for all the replies. After a stressful few days I finally have Lilah home after numerous tests! It seems she has an infection but none the wiser to what it is. She eat a little at the vets this morning and a little when she got home, so going to keep offering her little and often and see how she goes. If she is sick again tonight then it's straight back to the vets for her. She had me seriously worried it was so hard being at work today not knowing how she was.
