I think a lot depends on having ample time with the mother. Mine were rescued from a shelter at 8 weeks old. I don't know when they left their mother but at 4 months old when I got them they were holy terrors. Blondie still doesn't know how to retract her claws and not hurt me. This morning Grace was on my bed ripping holes in my fitted sheets while kneading next to my head, and Blondie was on my other side kneading my arm and scratching me. They are very sweet and loving but those claws! LOL

My two had plenty of time with their mother - we got them at 14 weeks. Jagger in particular has never learnt to keep his claws in! He has 'grabby paws', with every part of his paw extended if he's trying to grab something and that includes his claws. Little toe rag caught my face the other evening when I got home, I think he was being affectionate as I'd just got home from work, but it didn't feel like it lol

They also knead holes in everything Jill! Snags and holes everywhere - we definitely need new carpets (even though one of them was bought just before the little horrors arrived) but there is absolutely no point as no doubt they will be wrecked by our feline wrecking balls and their super sharp claws again :lol:

Don't worry, life won't be hell - but it will be different! Put everything away you value - a great Bengal game is knocking things off shelves to see what happens when it hits the floor!

One of mine chewed cables as a kitten especially Apple chargers. All mine have bite marks. Now she is onto wood furniture, but I am glad she is off the electrical cords and speaker cables. I have my sound system cords bundled together neatly and everything survived the kitten months.

The guy who set up my sound system bundled them and put them into the wall. I'll take a photo tonight. I don't recall what material was used but it is white since I have light colored walls.

correction: I just looked at some photos and he just bundled them tightly and fed them into the wall through a white plastic unit. We talked about covering them with a white plastic cover but I never got around to that. Keeping them tightly bundled really helps and now that the cats are too big to dive into the component cabinet or fit behind the unit there isn't really an issue any longer.

Such a cutie! We bought the two largest of these posts (in addition to a cat tree) for our 2 bengals and 1 moggie. They just love scractching on these - they have saved the rest of our house! A little pricey, but so worth it!

You are doing a great job of preparing for Benedict! Armakat makes great cat trees. You've joined a forum with bengal parents ... we have all gone through our challenges with our "kids." But, in the end, we would not change a thing.
