He is cute!

I have only same suggestion when he will be alone - cat buddy is the best for him.
When me and my husband talked about bengal cats. I wanted two, but husband only one. Finally I convinced him for two. And after a few months he told me that i have truth. I think that one cat would be bored and maybe he will be misbehave.

They have a lot of energy. We play with them each day in evening, sometimes at morning too. But they still have a lot of energy for chasing each other and running. And two cats can snuggle to each other too, so they aren't so lonely.

I see that price for bengal cat in USA is very high - $1300 for one kitten? But you don't need another Bengal cat for buddy. He will be happy for any kind of cat.

And Benedict is nice name!

Welcome. Getting a second bengal kitten is a big help imo. Having toys lying on the floor is some help. More help though are things to climb! Trees, shelves, poles etc. The higher the better (seriously!). So it sounds like you live in an apartment and he will be confined to a single room when you are gone? That's actually ideal for the first week or two, but not so much after that. These cats definitely need some room to move around. Sprinting and leaping are big activities for bengals so he needs room to do that. I'm more concerned about that then the fact that he'll be alone some hours each day.

I know how it is, but don't be in a big hurry to get him home. These are formidable weeks for him where he gets extra socialization and such. 12 weeks is usually considered the earliest to take a kitten home if it can be helped, so it is suspicious when a breeder offers to get a kitten out the door sooner. He's certainly a very handsome little guy!

Good luck with "training" your bengal. Mine trained me. In time torn curtains, chewed wood and leather with holes all over it will become the norm and acceptable. They own everything. I am just their caretaker.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your upcoming arrival. Brian is correct. 12 weeks is the norm for breeders, not 10. The kitty will learn additional skills from his mother during those extra weeks. Hopefully, your breeder won't give you any grief at having to hang on to him until he's 11 weeks old.

All kittens are hyperactive. Bengals, especially so! They do take several kitty naps during the day. Having a camera is a great idea for several reasons -- and one being to make sure your roommate doesn't leave the door open to your room so your bengal can escape!

A cat tree is a must! Bengals love to climb up high. Lots of wand toys are great, too, so you can wear the little guy out. He is just a beautiful kitten and I know you will have many, many years with him.

I have bengal proofed my house rather a lot, I thought it was pretty good as I have a 4 year old bengal boy and he was very naughty as a baby, so I have kept all things out of his way.

Then a few months ago I brought home Pearl, my now 7 months old bengal girl, OMG it has been like the tasmanian devil on speed.

Ripped nets, pictures off walls, torn wallpaper, shredded carpet, artificial flowers annihilated, wires chewed, these are only a handful of things.

My house was not as bengal proofed as I thought.

Our boys don't destroy anything. We were afraid of it - for example we covered up our couch by some blanket for few first months. But they didn't scratch it, so we gave away blanket and everything is fine. So I think if he will have enough play time, it will be fine. But yes, each cat is different :) And trust me, bengal cat will bring many happiness to your life! Enjoy it! They are amazing! I love them so much.

And I agree with others that 12 weeks is the minimum. I know one cat that had been taken earlier and socialization was difficult. Nobody taught her that during the game she mustn't use the claws. I think that mother and sibling teaching him during last weeks at breeder.

And it is true that they sleep almost all day. I gave camera at home few days ago too (Two mobile phones + aplication Alfred) . And our boys are awake maybe once or two times during the day. Most of the time when i check them on camera - they are "boring" and they sleep on their cat tree :)

Appreciate the input everyone. That is somewhat reassuring, probably the first person I've heard that hasn't had insane young bengals and suggested my life will probably be hell :)
