Hey guys, I had a question about my little one,, maggie. Ever since we got her on the 6th, she was always the hyper one, playing around, jumping, talking all day none stop. About 3 days ago she had a swollen eye. We too her to the vet that same day and they told me everything with her is fine, that it can just be a bacteria thing so they gave us neomycin and polymyxin B sulfate and apply the ointment twice a day for 7 days. All of that can be led from stress, from her trying to be the alpha, or it is just a bacteria causing it.

Today her eyes are a lot better, however her energy level has dwelled dramatically. She has laid next to me all day. Where Glenn has been laying with her as well, but he has been playing with me and eating. Maggie ate her first meal, and took a bite of her second, and only ate a tiny bit of her third. She's walked around a bit, but mostly slept all day.

I'm concerned something is wrong with her. She does have a follow up on Sunday, but she hasn't really eaten, and just seems different to me. She is normally the "annoying" one, and this behavior is the completely different for her.

Has any of you guys dealt with something like this or similar? Anyone's guess on what can be wrong with Maggie? Please help

I think you should probably at least call up the vet and talk to them soon, and see what they have to say. If a cat has both a greatly reduced appetite and activity level, that is nearly a sure-fire sign that something is wrong, and that she's feeling poorly, and that you'll need to take care of it, especially for a really young cat.

Brianj12 thanks for the response. I'm going to call them first thing tomorrow since its already 830pm here. she did eat tonight, however I had to spoon feed her. I've also noticed her voice is different, if that makes any sense. It sounds a lot more raspier than usual.

There is definitely something going on. I think your vet is going to have to run additional tests! It's obvious your little one is not feeling well. I'm hoping it's nothing too serious. Let us know what you find out.

One of my kittens had an eye issue. They both had runny poo when I got them. They were in and out of the vet's quite a bit but their appetite and energy level was always up. Kittens can go through health issues the first 6 months. I don't know if it's change of environment, diet or intestinal issues they arrive with. It took my kittens about 6 months for things to solidify, clear up and settle down. One of them had red itchy eyes so bad that she had medication and a cone plus several visits to two different vets. I still have no idea what caused it. The other cat didn't have it. Pet insurance is a good idea, especially that first year. Vets are getting so expensive.
