Down near her lady parts she has this spot that hasn't seemed to improve with time. I really have no good way to describe it except that it appears to be very small and is covered by hair. When I get my finger in the area to inspect it she flinches and tries to claw away which makes me thinks it's bothering her. It doesn't look very severe, and I'm going to take her in, but I wanted some help in a possible diagnosis or to at least get an idea of what it could be.

I only noticed it a few days ago. She was very lethargic yesterday and hasn't been in the mood to play. Originally when I noticed the spot there was a small brown something that appeared to be attached to her (I pulled it off), but this was next to the spot in question. I've tried giving her a quick bath to treat the area but that hasn't seen any improvement.

I give her revolution but the last time I gave it to her was probably two months ago (skipped a month).


Any feedback?

Does she go out? It's not tick season but if you just pulled it off, if it was a tick its head was probably left behind. If you are in the UK, it could have been a tick, with the unseasonably mild and wet weather at the moment, anything is possible!

Any time you are uncertain about something physical with your kitty, it's best to take it to the vet to be checked out. It could be a number of things. I don't know how common ticks are in your region. I recently pulled one off a stray kitty (that I do give Frontline to monthly) and was able to dislodge it with my fingernails and get the entire tick. That usually creates a scab. At any rate, taking her to her vet to helps her out and eases your mind. It's well worth the time and money, especially since you state she is lethargic. She could have an infection of some type.

Yea, I'm absolutely bringing her in. I was hoping to have some idea of what's going on.

I don't think it was a tick Bc it was a really small, fingernail clipping size black thing. It left a mark when I took it off her. If it was a tick should I bring her in ASAP?

She was much better last night. Much more energetic than she has been and she was playing with me for the first time in a few days.

Tics can be tiny. Size of a pinhead even!

I took her in a few days ago and the vet said it was vaginitis. Great. Antibiotic shot and done.

The only problem is the spot has gotten worse in my opinion. I've also noticed some spots on her back ankle joint on both sides, and a spot between there and her back paw on one of her legs. I'm calling the vet tomorrow.

I'm worried it could be her recurring water bowl. It never gets dirty but I probably only clean it once every two weeks when the mineral deposits start to form. Am I doing this all wrong!?

Water bowls need to be cleaned daily! Water fountains with filters need to be cleaned once a week -- and you need to be using ceramic or stainless steel -- not plastic. Plastic causes a lot of problems in cats -- chin acne and the plastic can break down in the water, plus it is very difficult to clean! When you say "spots," what are you talking about -- bald spots? scabs?

It looks like the area directly around her vagina to both sides is losing some hair and looks dirty, and her vagina itself looks dirty or as if she's not cleaning herself there.

And I have a male bengal, so I'm no help there!
