Hello everyone X

As you know we got our sweet little Eddie home today.
He has been absolutely wonderful, settling in nicely, playing, eating, letting me carry him and sitting on my lap purring. Such a munchkin. X

However I am concerned about his chin and we are not due to visit the vet until Wednesday.
He has a condition which was described to us as black heads on the chin. Upon reading some online literature I got a little bit concerned. Please have a look at the photo and please give me an advice how to manage this. Thank you. X

Does he scratch his neck and chin? Possibly it's an allergy... I'm sure the vet will have some ideas.

No, he doesn't. He is a very happy kitten. I am just one worried mama as it does look sore.
Thank you for the comment, we will see what the vet recommends. X

Poor Eddie!!!! I see you've done a great job of inspecting him all over. When you take him to the vet, the vet will do a complete checkup as well. I'm sure they will let you know what the issue is and how to deal with it. The area does look a little raw. See if he grooms that area okay. And try to make sure the chin doesn't reach into the food bowl -- not sure how you can do that, but you don't want the thing getting infected. Let us know what the vet says.

Yes, poor little baby. X
I have inspected him microscopically  It is always good to know everything especially with someone so precious.
I did loads of research and applied some chlorhexidine (non toxic to cats) and the chin looks less inflamed. He has only porcelain dishes and I make sure I wipe his chin after meals. He has not been eating very well today. Had to hand feed him. All what he wanted is play and sleep on my chest purring. I have never seen a cat/kitten so loving and in need of attention. Feeling very blessed Xx

I am not sure how something like that could not irritate a cat -- possibly by putting his chin in a bowl to eat. It may rub up against the side of the bowl or the food, which is why he's not wanting to eat properly. Definitely hand feed him (or syringe feed him) as he's got to eat.

Yes, I agree. I don't know if it is spreading more since Sunday. Quite a worry for me.
I have been doing the best I can to get him eating. Poor chappy. Xx

I will post an update after the vets tomorrow. X

Well, I am now worried and can not wait for some serious answers from the vets tomorrow.
I took a flash photo of Eddie's chin this evening while he was in my lap sleeping and I must say I don't think it's getting better.

It looks like he scratched it and it bled. It could be a skin issue, it could be that he has a tooth or teeth bothering him and that is why he is scratching, could be an allergy, could be fleas. I wouldn't put anything else on it and let the vet check him out.

Can't wait to hear what the vet says. It does look as if it's getting worse in some way. Poor Eddie! I'm sure the vet will get him fixed up ASAP.

Update:

Thank you guys for being patient and waiting for news about my little Eddie X
We have a case of moderate chin acne! Unfortunately some cats develop this condition and some don't. Some queens when calling have very bad outbreaks and then when pregnant it goes away. Most probably Eddie will get more outbreaks throughout his life but nothing dangerous if it is well managed. The vet commanded me on doing the research and treating it with chlorhexidine to keep the infection at bay. I got super brownie points for hand feeding him as he has gained weight and is healthy 1.7 kgs. at 13 weeks. Regarding any show potential in the future I was told by the vet that this condition is marked negative for the cat. Apparently it can come and go but most importantly it must never ever get infected. Poor little chappy. Anyhow he is so perfect to us in every way including his problematic chin.
Eddie never got scared at the vets and was super confident. For being such a good boy he got a bag of chicken treats for free. The breeders have done an amazing job at how socialised, clever, loveable and cuddly kitten he is and even with Eddie's chin condition I can not complain. We just got mega worried as we love the boy! X

I am so pleased Eddie is OK, I'm sure you will be able to manage his little problem. Its always worrying when your precious furrbaby is not well.

I know you will have many happy times with him, bengals have a huge personality and can be very quirky.

My boy makes me happy every day, just to have him sleep on my bed is a pleasure.

Keep the photos coming x

It's great that the vet agreed with your diagnosis and treatment! Poor little baby! Hopefully, it will clear up shortly and he won't have another outbreak for a while. You did good!
