My cat has hard fur on his back along his spine

Please see photo....what could this be please? its hard to touch.....no liquids were spilled on his back so i dont know whats wrong with him :(

He eats and sleeps normally

The fur could be matted! Do you brush or comb your kitty? If not, you need to! Even short-haired cats can get mats. I had a medium-haired cat that had a ton of them when he first came around my house as a stray and I brushed out what I could and cut off what I couldn't get through. That would be difficult to cut them off a short-haired cat. Cats will sometimes try to pull them off themselves. If you are concerned it might be something else, please take your kitty to the vet and have it checked out. Your kitty is beautiful.

Like Sherry said, it's called matted fur. I researched this some time back, because there is a cat in the neighborhood that has befriended me, and she has very matted fur too (worse than your cat's). In and of itself it isn't too much of a problem. Like Sherry said you can get a comb and run it through there and break it up. But it is often indicative of an underlying medical problem, because cats usually groom themselves pretty effectively, especially short haired cats like bengals. So a trip to the vet is probably in order.

How old is your cat? This can happen in elderly cats or in cats with injuries/illnesses who can no longer groom properly. The fur becomes matted.
I would take the cat to the vet to get him checked out.
