Are your bengals responsive to their names? If so how long does it take? Merlin sometimes responds but only when you use your hands so not to name alone. I think they're too interested in chasing each other about the house for now.

My two respond very well to the other half when he whistles, and they will come running if I call them, as they know my voice, but it's not always the one I'm calling who turns up!

You could try rewarding them with treats if they respond correctly to you, I'm sure they would soon learn then! That's how we trained them to respond to Jon's whistle.

I swear that like humans they have selective hearing and if they are having more fun doing something else, they choose to ignore you lol

Raiden definitely knows his name! It may be harder when you are calling TWO or more cats as they may be confused as to which name applies to them.

Blondie comes to me whenever I say her name. She is usually watching me even when she is outside. When I get up she is instantly right there to investigate. Grace comes to me when I call her name if she wants something (food, brushing, play or attention). She can also ignore me if she wants to.

It does take a little time. Mine do all know their names, and have since probably a couple months or so after getting them. But their response is entirely dependent on context. In other words, they do a quick estimation each time of what the consequences are likely to be for acknowledging my call. For example, I might call Gaga over when I'm in the kitchen to give her a piece of meat that I'm cooking, and the others will perk up their ears and come too. Or I could call Gaga when it's pill time, and she'd actually run in the opposite direction or hide, while the others completely ignore it. If I call Serafina's name when I'm near the "play room" she will come sprinting (and meowing). Stuff like that.

I probably confuse mine with calling Hendrix 'Henders' and Jagger 'Jaggy Waggy' - they know when I'm cross with them and who it is directed at though as that is full proper name in a very annoyed and stern voice! Usually used to stop Hendrix being too rough/biting Jagger or trying to steal Jagger's treats, or Jagger to stop him pushing things off shelves or playing with the blinds... I love the fact he looks over to me as he lines a paw up with a vase on the bookcase, to see if I react the little minx.

I have so many nick names for mine too and sometimes mix up their names. I think they respond to the tone of my voice. If I call Blondie's name, Grace will show up to see what her sister was going to get, because she thinks she is entitled to everything!

Oh gads, I have tons of nicknames for Raiden. Baby, Pumpkin, Munchkin, Little Boogar, Little Shitza, Pain in the a$$. You can tell which ones I use depending on my mood! LOL. I'm surprised he even knows his real name! LOL

Just keep using his name and he will soon learn it, magic knows his name and looks every time I use it

I remembered a couple more for Raiden: Mr. Handsome and Glitter baby. Come to think of it, I usually only call him Raiden when he's about to do something he shouldn't!
