I really think this is sooooo true! Cats are so amazing and do such comical things that you can't help but laugh! However ... ruining the Christmas tree and presents is not very funny. They do say do not put out any tinsel because a cat may ingest it and it can seriously damage the digestive system.

This how you protect your Christmas tree and presents from your kitties:

I have a small silver tree that I would love to put out on my patio. I have little green lights and green snowflake ornaments that I put on it. I wonder if they would leave it alone...

I keep thinking they are out of their mischief phase, but tonight I realize they can flip their naughtie switch on when they don't get what they want. I had to bring them inside tonight since it is Halloween and I want to keep them safe with me inside. They are climbing all over, moving small furniture, washing their feet in my water, stealing the straw, sharpening their claws in the leather foot rest...

You know, that would also protect the tree from any toddlers that might be crawling or walking or even older kids who want to shake their presents to see if they can guess what's in them. LOL. I'm sure many a large dog has knocked over a tree, too. Jill, I don't know if cats ever grow out of their mischief stage. You know when you introduce something new in your house, Gracie and Blondie are all over it! So a Christmas tree may be something they are interested in. You won't know until you give it a try.

With my previous bengal frosty, I tried several times putting up a Christmas tree only to find it knocked over or chewed up, I also tried a real one which was worse, it was like a red rag to a bull, so far since I have had magic I haven't put one up, but this year I have bought a small fibre optic one which I hope by placing it out of his way may work, we'll see

I guess they could try to climb the fence. Raiden's enclosure is made out of similar wire and he only climbed it the first time he ever went out there to see if he could find an escape route. Since that time, he's never climbed it once.

I didn't think about the Christmas tree...

My other half is going to his Dad's for Xmas so he isn't on his own, I would have went as well with the kittens in tow except theres not enough room for all us at the OH dads & he has a shy rescue moggy called Ruby.

So instead I've got an 8 hour drive back to Scotland with my two kittens to stay at my Nana's house, I think she's looking forward to me bringing them with me. Although I am anxious about them being naughty at hers. I think i'm going to have to move all ornaments and just hope they don't pull Nana's tree down...

They're so mischievous I know they're going to do something. I'd rather them with me than put into a cattery though and my family can't wait to meet the boys!

10 minutes in the car is enough for me with my two lol might be an idea to try to get them used to travelling in your car before the trip!

Definitely get the ornaments packed away! I kept my two in this evening once I got home as its fireworks night and I've has a rebellion on my hands! Everything was knocked off the hall unit and the light shade hanging from the ceiling was skewed where they've been bashing it from the top of the hall unit. They're never allowed out at night or past 7.30pm anyway, but the fireworks seem to start about 6pm and they were very put out about their routine being disrupted.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about the tree - suggest to your nana she doesn't put any ornaments on it until you see how they react!

Look forward to hearing about your adventures after x,as

My experience with lengthy travels with a kitty is that they cry in the beginning, but will settle down after a while. Put some soothing music on (and don't fall asleep at the wheel). Make sure they are in something large enough -- that they can stretch out in. I had an extra large carrier and filled it with blankets and toys. I have a 5 minute drive to the vet and all the cats have hollered the entire way to and from! Taking your two with you is a great idea. I'd make sure they are on a harness and you have leashes available -- they can be little escape artists and gone in a flash! As for the tree -- hopefully, they will be on their best behavior the entire time.
