Hey everyone!

We just ordered the newest model of the Litter Robot! I can't believe fiance went for it, they are so pricey! But I think he's feeling guilty about having pet sitters scoop the boxes daily while we are out of town, especially for the coming Thanksgiving holiday. I really hope the kitties take to it...does anyone else have one and successfully using it?

If I were a little cat and I saw my bathroom moving robotically, I might be less inclined to use it.

That's about the only contribution I can make.

I used to have some similar boxes and they worked quite well. Then I had some bad luck replacing one that had burned out, the new one only lasted a few months and even after exchanging that one the next one didn't last much longer. So I gave up and went back to traditional litter boxes.

While the kitties are learning to use the new box make sure their old boxes are still available so you don't have accidents.

Have they made them so the mechanics are silent? Although I think some of wait 30 seconds after the cat has left the box. I think pet sitters understand they have to clean the litter boxes -- it's part of their job when it comes to cats. I wouldn't feel guilty about having them do it at all. They are getting paid to do it. All I know is that I use a Litter Genie and when the bag is full, I cannot believe Raiden has that much waste -- and he pees a lot while we are on our walks.

It's great you have some friends who will take care of your pets. I have to hire a professional! I have some great neighbors, but they are not cat people at all.

I had one several years ago that cost quite a bit and worked okay at first, but months later it would get stuck. The thing I didn't like about it was that it took me over an hour to clean it and the metal parts began to rust. I got it thinking it would save time cleaning the box, but I stopped using it before a year was up. An old fashioned box with a liner was quicker and easier to deal with.

Let us know how it goes for you, socalprincess. I know my husband is curious about them too. :P

Holly, it's loud! And I'd be concerned that Orion would somehow get caught in the mechanism. You'd think most cats would simply ignore the thing when it was working, but your Orion is a pistol! And ewww, who would want to mess with what's being pulled through the thing?

Sorry this is late! but socalprincess...what litter works best for you?? also since it's been a little while, how did it work out for you? Mine just arrived :)

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. They're on pine pellets at the breeder .. any suggestions on the best way to get them used to the robot/clumping litter? We are moving one month after bringing them home so I plan to let them use the regular box until the new place..but would like to get the used to the clumping litter asap!

In principle I like the idea of these devices, but there is one big drawback to them - sometimes the only clue you get to your cat's health is what is happening in the litter box.

For example, I had two cats, so I should ideally see at least two urine clumps and two poops. Suddenly I'm only seeing one poop and it's become clear that one of the cats is blocked up for some reason. (And I lost him a couple of months later)
