Hello back again!

Sorry I've been missing for a while but had lots going on.

My Burmese Muskey has been giving us quite a fright over the last 6 months. We have had him twice to the vets thinking we would not be returning with him but both times he has fought his way back to health. He is 15 now and I think his immune system is not what it was. He's an indoor cat but I've told dh time and time again not to walk in from the street into the living room with his shoes on as I am sure this is how his recent illnesses have been passed on.

He is now very much a pampered Muskey, allowed to do what the hec he wants in my eyes and he does lol. He now has a lovely heated bed that he sleeps on every night too :)

I have been through quite a bit over the past year. First of all we had to fight like the devil to get my son into a specialist independent school and after hiring a Barrister and team of solicitors to fight County they eventually backed down and my son is at the most amazing school.

He receives 3 hours speech and language therapy a week and all his lessons are individually timetabled just for him. It's a tough school to get into as they only take bright children despite having special needs and we are so proud of him as he did exceptionally well on their entrance tests.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief and then immediately got ill! I underwent major surgery the end of June, picked up an infection and ended up back in hospital again. Two weeks after that my sister who had a life limiting illness suddenly passed away. It was such a shock that I still haven't got over but I am comforted that two days before she died I told her how much I loved her :(

Sounds like you've been through the mill, and I'm so sorry to hear about your sister and your health issues. Good news that your son is at the school you wanted though, from what you say it is really suiting him.

I think you are due a quieter time for a while, to spend spoiling Muskey - and yourself!

They are keeping me on my toes as ever! We had a few issues recently as Hendrix was pretty badly beaten up by a neighbourhood cat (a grey one who has bullied them from day one), and as a result he started to get aggressive with Jagger - but with a bit of work, this week it looks like they are as bonded as ever again. A bit ungrateful of Hendrix really as Jagger (or me) are the ones who see off all the cats who chase him home, and then Jagger would still get grief from Hendrix and look so hurt!

At least Hendrix healed up well, but I think he will have a scar now just below his nose.

I'm all chuffed today as Jagger got on my lap last night, and he has never been a lap cat, I'm still in shock lol

Oh no that's awful Clare, poor Hendrix and poor Jagger too!

Is that cat still around? It's quite difficult when you have cats living in close proximity to one another particularly if one is very aggressive.

We had a moggy years ago who was very ladylike with us but was as aggressive as hell with other cats who were in her territory. I remember when we moved into this house and we still had her (Junior as she was called must have been about 18 then!) and my next door neighbour warned me that her cat was a bit of a bruiser so I needed to be careful with my elderly cat.

Well this 'bruiser' came cockily into our garden to pick a fight and Junior nearly had it for dinner. That cat NEVER came back into our garden again!

That so lovely that Jagger sat on your lap! They do surprise you don't they. I remember Dexter who as you know was very shy putting his paw on my back when I was sitting on the stairs one day. You would have though I'd won the lottery I was that chuffed so I know how you feel xxx

Yes, the pleasure it gives you when they show affection is silly really! Jagger always looks at you as though to say "is it okay if I get on the bed/footstool?" - and also looks to Hendrix for permission. For him to just jump up on my lap when Hendrix was on the footstool was an absolute first. Even Hendrix was surprised. He became really subdued when Hendrix was taking his angst out on him, so I'm hoping that's over now. They play together again and its so lovely to watch them - and a relief to see them both happier again and Hendrix less jumpy!

Unfortunately the cat is still around and is very aggressive - whereas my two aren't fighters at all. Jagger just faces off any cat invading his territory, he's never actually got into a fight as far as I know. However, I had to rescue him from the grey cat recently as well. And the cat was having a big poo on our lawn to show his total disrespect for Jagger. He runs when he sees me though as I've got him with a water pistol a couple of times.

I know it was him as Hendrix will attempt to stand up to other cats and isn't bothered if they chase him home, but as soon as he sees him, he's on his belly and slinking off to hide, literally petrified.

Goodness Debbie, you have had an awful few months. It sounds like the stress of what you have been through has taken it's toll on you. Hopefully a quiet, relaxed time ahead for you with Musky on your lap being spoilt rotten!

Welcome back Debbie. I'm sorry to hear about your illness and family loss. I am sure Muskey was a big comfort during difficult times. Congratulations on your son's accomplishment. You must be proud of him. I hope Muskey's senior years are quiet and gentle, and he is on the mend.

My girls are 18 months old now. They are big playful kitties. I spent a lot of extra time at home with them this summer, and we have become close. I guess they are my family now, and I love them.

I hope you are in for a quiet ride for a while. It's good to hear from you again.

Thanks so much for the welcome back.

I wasn't really a member here for that long but felt at home very quickly as everyone was so welcoming. It's lovely to be back again and see all the familiar names and pics of your lovely Bengals.

Dh was saying that when I was in hospital Muskey "howled" the house down going from room to room for days on end so at least someone missed me lol.

His usual place is either sitting on my lap or sitting on a cushion right next to me so I imagine he must have felt a bit lost when I wasn't there.

Dh's birthday and we've just been to see Martian on the Cinema. Really enjoyed it as haven't been out for some time. When we came home and opened the door Muskey gave us such a welcome home it was lovely :)

Ha ha almost felt like I was being told off for going out!

Debbie, we hope you'll continue to check in with us as we love hearing about ALL kitties, bengal or not! I'd like to think Raiden would miss me if I were gone for a while, but now sure he would! He's really a self-centered kitty.
