I take my boy Deeks out for daily walks and sometimes he tends to sink his teeth into a few morsels of grass before I'm able to steer him away. In any case he managed to latch on to a blade or two this morning and soon after began to gag as though he was about to throw up. Nothing but white saliva/foam came of his attempts. A short time later he began his gagging actions again and this time the saliva/foam was greenish in color, obviously from the grass.
It's about seven hours later since his ordeal outside this morning and he still tends to go into a gagging action as if his stomach is going to turn but nothing comes of it.
He has eaten and drank a bit of water since he was outside this morning as well.
I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this type of scenario with their cat and if so, is there anything I should be alarmed about and/or will these gagging actions cease?

Cats chew grass for the exact purpose of throwing up. It helps them clear hairballs. I used to have a moggie that I let outside inb the fenced off backyard (she was too old to jump the fence). Immediately on going outside she'd make a b-line for the nearest grass/weeds, chew on it, and within I think 15-20 min or so she would throw up, like you say. Sometimes white, sometimes tinged with green. Sometimes a couple of little puddles before a larger puddle. It seems to be a useful thing for the cat's digestive process.

I'm honestly not sure what's going on with yours. 7 hours is a long time. Dunno. Might be worth a phone call to the vet?

Raiden loves to nibble on grass, but he will rarely vomit it back up. Sometimes he does and it's just foam with some grass in it. As long as your kitty is still eating and drinking normally, I would give it 24 hours. If the tummy hasn't settled back down by then, I would call the vet and see what they recommend. It's possible there is just a little of it still somewhere in the throat. We humans get the same thing sometimes and it takes a while to clear it out.

I have noticed sometimes Oscar seems to be retching for a while and there is usually a long bit of grass kind of half in and half out. Yuk. Think it irritates the gag reflex though. Yours just may have an annoying bit of grass at the back of his throat

Sometimes lawns are treated with chemicals so unless you know that's not the case, I wouldn't worry about it. Cats chew grass and throw up. It is a pretty common thing. I think that's why my cats eat kale and arugula .

Our yard gets fertilized once every two months and I make sure Raiden is not eating the grass in OUR yard for a couple of weeks. Our neighbor rarely cuts her yard, so the grass there is high and she never fertilizes it either. Makes it better for Raiden.
