Has anyone ever installed cat shelves in their house using damage-free hooks such as the Command brand?

I really want to put up a few cat shelves but unfortunately I am renting and nails/any damage to walls is not allowed.

I think I can persuade the landlord to let me use damage-free hooks… but are cat shelves at all possible with these??

I don’t think these hooks come in wall slants… would it be a silly idea to use a hot glue gun to glue the bottom of a shelf to the actual tips of the hooks and place on the wall?

I have a problem with catifying my home… I think most of the things here already are mostly theirs – cat trees, scratchers, beds, toys… but I feel so sad walking into someone’s home to discover they have a cat… but not seeing any cat furniture or toys around at all.

I have used the Command hooks for pictures and other small articles. If the picture is too heavy, it will fall. Sometimes they stay on the wall for a year or more but then, I think, they dry out or something and fall. I've relegated these devices to short-term items such as empty Christmas stockings.

I would not recommend them for cat shelves.

I have cat shelves and at least one side is screwed securely into a wooden stud behind the wall and the other side is securely attached with Molly screws. The shelves can hold about 50-70 pounds.nwhen two big cats are racing up and down the shelves full throttle, I know the shelves will stay securely in place. There is no way the type of hook you are describing would provide a safe runway for you cat. The last thing you want is an injury to your kitty. My advice is to stick to cat trees or furniture they can climb safely.

Those command hooks hold very little weight! I would not trust them to hold a cat and a shelf! If you have cat trees, that should be fine for your kitties. Stick with furniture that won't interfere with your walls. Nobody likes to put holes in their walls and I don't believe your cat shelves are necessary. One way to get around this is the buy stackable cubes and stack them like steps up against the wall. They do the same trick and are not fastened to the wall.

For people renting it's a lot harder. We used these floating shelf brackets in home made shelves but they are screwed into masonry, not wood studded wall.
