Hi everyone

Tonight I noticed my 9 month old bengal has something wrong with his eye

Its not weeping or crusty and doesn't seem to be bothering him, but there looks like there is something inside his pupil. Its whitish yellow and is a physical mass - takes up about 1/8th of the pupil when dilated.

It seems to be attached to a whitish line going towards the inner eye

Im going to take him straight to the vets, but Im so worried about him

Any ideas?

Just to add, its not opaque like a cataract - it seems to be a solid mass

Hopefully, it's nothing serious, but there are vets who specialize in ophthalmology so if your regular vet can't figure it out, a specialist can. Keep us informed on what you find out.

Thanks for the advice.

The vet said it was the result of a trauma (probably) and just to leave it as there are no other symptoms, and if that changes to take him back - she thought it was a blood vessel that his body is trying to repair but the retina is ok. He is very clumsy and is always running into things and falling out of trees.

The vet spotted something they'd missed before though, a slight mumur that's only picked up from a certain point between his ribs and nowhere else which is why it had been missed before. She didn't grade it or anything or order more tests, so hoping its not going o have a noticeable impact

I'm glad you got him in and the vet felt confident it's nothing bad. Just keep an eye on it and if it gets worse ask for a referral to an eye specialist.

Hopefully, the eye will get better! Heart murmurs are very common in bengals -- Raiden has a Grade 2 since birth. If the vet didn't grade it, then it is probably very minor. Raiden behaves normally and runs and plays like any other kitty. The vet checks it every time I take him there and it hasn't changed in 8 years.
