My friend just sent me a link to a video on you tube. Just put in Clipnosis to Youtube and its a video (ginger cat 4.23min) of a clip that you put on the back of your cat's neck to calm it and inhibit the fight or flight response like when mummy cat carries her kitten they go totally still. I have never heard of it but I do have to scruff my cat to put flea stuff on him or I would get shredded. When I scruff him he goes totally still and calm and it's easy and quick. What this clip does it mimic scruffing but you have both your hands free to then do whatever you need to do. Once I got over the initital reaction of it looks cruel, I got to thinking that maybe this could help a lot of cats in very stressful situations at the vet? Is this a better option that lots of people holding a cat down? See what you make of it! has anyone used one?

In the video I watched the cat didn't look that happy about the clip lol

I know I could do with an extra set of hands for spot-on treatments though, now Jon is away its harder than ever to apply to my two. They are overdue a treatment at the moment where I'm dreading it so much!

This device reminds me of using a twitch on a horse. It has a naturally calming effect but I don't think it is something the animal enjoys.
We used a twitch on my horses back in the day so we could trim and shoe them without getting kicked. I suppose this clipnosis device would be used appropriately, in a similar way, when performing necessary tasks in order to prevent harm to the human.

Interesting product. The only time I've ever scruffed Raiden is to administer medications and it works pretty well. The vet scruffs him all the time to examine him. It doesn't hurt the cat, so I'm guessing these clips also do not hurt the kitty. Raiden is usually really good about things. I chase him around the bathroom a few times with the Frontline but he will eventually just STOP and let me give it to him. I'm not sure I'd purchase the clips, but I guess they would help some people out. You can always use an extra hand when it comes to dealing with kitties.

With Raiden, he knows the Frontline is coming no matter what. He might as well just sit there and take it. It takes all of 2 seconds to put it on and then he gets to run free. He always runs out into his enclosure where he feels safe since I can't fit through the cat door.

I am becoming an expert at herding. I circle around and come from behind calling nummies! they trot in front of me and hopefully in through the door. Grace didn't want to come in this morning, but that's my fault since I got up late. I think they have an internal timer and want the same amount of time out there in the morning and the evening. If I fall asleep on the sofa in the evening, they come in on their own usually (unless it's a full moon).
