Is shedding common at 3 months old? Every time I pet Tiger I find some of his hairs floating around. To my knowledge bengals don't really shed. I'm assuming because he's this young maybe he's slowly changing his coat?

Kittens do indeed exchange their kitten coat with an adult coat, however, it usually starts around 5 months of age. I guess it's possible a 3-month old could be slowly shedding the kitten coat of fur. Hopefully, you have a good brush or comb that you can use to help the process so your kitty doesn't get hairballs. Bengals do shed, Raiden will start getting his winter coat shortly and in the spring he's got hair all over the place. You just pet him and it flies off him, so I spend a lot of time combing and brushing him.

A 3 month old kitten is coming out of the fuzzies, shedding the longer guard hairs that will sometimes mask his true pattern.

A lot of people think their bengals shed less than other cats. I wonder about this. I don't notice a lot of shedding by Quasar, but he grooms far more than any other cat I've ever had. He also has the shortest hair of any cat along with no undercoat. There is simply less hair to shed. I do, however, notice a fine shimmery coat of hair on the comforter on our bed when the sun hits it just right.

Ok good to know. Thank you guys. I think I'll brush him as frequently to help with his shedding. And yes I did notice those fine shiny hairs stuck to his blanket

Bengals definitely shed, to the point where my old housemate complained about it!

As kittens, my two didn't seem to shed. After their first year before summer, they did start shedding. One likes to be brushed for fun several times a day. The other one lets me pet her with damp hands and that seems to remove some hair. There isn't visable hair around the house, but sometimes I see it in their poop so I know they ingest some when they are grooming. They definitely shed less than the Siamese cats I have had previously.

I think with all cats -- just like humans -- you lose hair as you grow new hair. Raiden is not shedding at all right now and I don't find his hair all over the place. It's a seasonal thing for him. However, he sheds a lot less than any other cat I've ever had, including the stray that I returned to his home last Monday and is back at my house today! He's shedding up a storm.

Ferminator combs are great for any haired cat.

One of my friends swears by the furminator. We got one for our dog but her hair is so long and dense that it was useless. I tried it on Quasar but he doesn't seem to enjoy it at all.

This is interesting topic about shedding. From personal experience I think it depends on the cat. We had a Bengal in the past, spotted blue, he was leaving his hair around all the time. Also, i's hard to describe, but his fur was itchy, I was quite allergic (still loved him to the moon and back). Sadly lost him to heart disease. Now we have a new addition Spotted seal mink F6 - he is a different story, idon't notice any shedding, his fur is silky soft and have no allergy. Go figure

Cats are definitely individuals -- I don't think there are two cats alike out there. Neighbor's cat was out there this morning, still shedding. He has allergies that may be contributing to it. Raiden? I pet him ALL the time and no hair comes off him at all!
