I've never heard of a scat mat, but they keep the cat away from areas you don't want them in. Here's a link:

Yep, that is it! Worked for us and a friend of mine recently used one with great success. Need to get the right size for good coverage across your futon - we put 2 on our couch.

They aren't cheap, but if they do the trick ..... it's worth it.

VET UPDATE

So we just got back home from the vets, and a nice little car ride. We took X-Rays and the vet said they are perfect, everything is healthy and the size it should be. So her conclusion is behavioral... She will talk to the other vet about it also just because the other vet has been seeing Finnegan for all his other issues. Said she will probably not have anything to add, but just to make sure.

So I guess we will keep trying what we have been doing.. Maybe try the scat matt and the cat attrack litter. I'm going to try and bond with him more maybe try teaching him some tricks, see if he just wants more attention. He doesn't come and ask for it but maybe he really wants it.. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Bengals LOVE attention! Raiden wants it every minute he's awake. He thinks I should play with him or give him neck massages all the time. Now that you've ruled out anything medical, you'll simply have to concentrate on the behavioral side. A scat mat sounds good and trying a different cat litter may help. This is such a horrific problem and you want the behavior to stop! I hope you can come up with something that will work for you and keep your futon dry!

Hi guys! So things have been pretty good lately (one incident ) no pee for 2 and a half weeks. Though Monday night I had a friend from out of town stay over and sleep on the futon, and when she left in the morning he peed on the pillow that was still on the futon. But so far so good. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a regular occurrence after we have company. But other than that everything is good :)

I don't know whether this was mentioned before , but have you tried different litter type?
I had to look for alternative litter for my boy ,I purchased couple of samples or small bags and eventually he chosed one , it was softer type paper based litter.
That helped . however I still occasionally have strange cats in my front garden which prompts Clive to spray near windows every now and then.
I am in the progress of changing carpets now to vynil flooring due to this.

Steph, did you get the scat mats? Truthfully, even ONE peeing accident is a pain in the rear! I'm hoping things stop all together for Finn. You've been going through this for a while now and I know you want your life to get back to normal!

I really didn't read up on the scat mats. Someone else on here mentioned them. I thought maybe they buzzed/vibrated when they stepped on them, not give them a type of an electric shock. I would never do that to my kitty either! That's cruel. Why would someone sell something like that? I'm not in favor of electric fences either and a member here actually had one for their cats.

Don't judge. My kitties spend all their daylight hours out in our yard playing and sleeping in the bushes. They each got "shocked" twice when we first installed the petsafe invisible fence and now they know exactly where it is and never get shocked anymore. It's been in 2 years now without a problem and I know my cats are safe and happy. Do as you would like, but this is a fantastic tool.
