Snake!

My friend from Arizona is staying with me at the moment. I was working downstairs yesterday when I heard her scream "SNAKE" poor Oscar had gone under her bed but with his tail poking out. Don't know who was more scared - Oscar or my friend! We have renamed Oscar - The Bengal Rattler :lol:

I thought you didn't have snakes in the UK, or is that just Scotland?

We have grass snakes and adders in UK. My friend Nic is from Arizona and she saw Oscar's banded tail poking out from under her bed and in that split second thought it was a snake! I know they have rattle snakes in Arizona and probably lots more?

Yes lots of snakes here. I see them from time to time. My neighbor had a deadly coral snake in her yard a few months ago. Arizona has them for sure plus scorpions (ick).

A kitty cat tail, at least they don't bite.

Melissa, how funny!!!! So glad it turned out to be Oscar's tail. I am terrified of snakes! And when we walk back behind our fence in the "woods," I'm scared I'll see one. Yesterday, Raiden saw something in our yard and went after it. It appeared to be a baby snake just trying to get away from him. I made sure he didn't hurt it even though it will grow up to be a big snake.

She googled the diamond back rattlesnake to show me and yes the end of its tail is black bands so I can see how she would have freaked. Poor Oscar ran for his life :cry:

I really would not like to have so many poisonous snakes as America has. My friend has rattlesnake fencing round her property and sees bobcats. Oscar would definitely be living the indoor life in America!!

Not sure how you keep rattlesnakes out of your yard. There is fencing for that???

Its kind of a close mesh all round :lol:

the bottom two feet of her fencing. Probably does not keep them out at all but makes her feel safer!!

Baby rattlers aren't very big ......gads I hate snakes.

It's not just poisonous snakes. Anytime I see one, I don't stop to look at the head shape to see what it might be. I just get the heck out of there. I've never seen one, except that little tiny baby one, in Tennessee and we have rattlers here. Plus we back up to acres of woods and Raiden and I walk back there. I am always looking around on the ground, just to make sure I'm not stepping on one. When the weather cools, my husband and I will go out and clear even more of the area. The better I can see what's out there -- the safer I feel.
