Hi guys, i apologize if this is a repeat post; i tried to find a post with a specific recommendation but didn't see one.
my f1 is having some "peeing out of the box issues" recently. we have had him for just over 2 weeks now and he has peed a couple times in the closet, the laundry basket and in this specific corner of the bedroom and of course the bathtub.I understand using the bathtub/sink is a natural instinct for him and honestly, ill take that if he stops in the other places For the most part it seems like he is using his litter box though- i clean pee clumps out every day 3 times a day along with his stools.
i am trying to correct the behaviour by switching out the litter completely, got him a new and bigger litter box and got that dr elsey's kitty attract litter so hopefully that works.i've also made sure there's plenty of litter in there at all times. i also realize it could be due to stress from his new home since we've only had him for 2 weeks now. i don't think he has a UTI but will get him tested if the behaviour persists. i haven't noticed him do this in the past couple days but hey, i don't see everything!
he is still living in the bedroom(gets free run of the house couple hours a day) where his litter box is close by but near a good ventilated area, far from his food.

I've been able to clean the pee spots to my nose's standards but i was hoping someone on here would have a good recommendation for an enzymatic cleaner that they've used in the past that got the scent out so that their cat didn't smell it anymore. i don't want him continuously returning to the same spot if he smells it still.

i don't want to "release" him into the rest of the house until i know i have his bathroom habits under control.

My neighbor's dog peed on 3 of my cat beds. He soaked them right through. I tried Nature's Remedy but that didn't seem to solve the problem. So on a friend's recommendation I got Woolite 10C1 Pet Urine Eliminator. That seemed to solve the problem and the cats use the beds again. I also got a black light and located all the spots he had been marking in my home.

Yes, the black light works but it shows things other than urine too. I have all tile with a couple oriental carpets. My last cat threw up a lot and it located some of those spots. Gaga managed to lock herself in a room all day once, with no litterbox, so she had no choice but to pee on the floor. A blacklight along with Nature's Miracle did the trick for me. A blacklight is crucial imo, because it's the only way to accurately figure out where all the pee went, and just as importantly, gives you feedback as to whether your cleanup attempt was successful.

Emily, did the breeder not litter box train Luca? This can be an issue with an EG. The key is to make sure there aren't clothes laying around, no laundry basket, and closet doors are closed! Is he getting along with your other cat or are there issues there? It seemed Luca settled in great, but with the F1s, you just never know. Hopefully, you'll create a blog soon to help anyone else considering an EG. There are special challenges with them that you've accepted. Add more litter boxes if you think it would help the situation.

Yes he was litter trained before getting to me. I suspect it might be because of his diarrhea (we just switched his food after having him for a week so he has it again right now). He might not want to go in there because of it even though I'm cleaning it three times daily. I think he is still doing it because I haven't been able to completely get rid of the scent. I have to keep reminding my boyfriend to CLOSE THE CLOSET! Lol and I bought a laundry basket with a lod now and threw out the one he peed in.
Hopefully after I get it cleaned properly there will be no more problems. We are also due to have a carpets cleaned soon but I was planning on wishing to have that done until Luca is big enough for a harness and has gone outside so I can just take him out of the house for the hour or so that it takes.
The place I use for carpet cleaning is really good with pet stains. Luca and Avi have been able to play a couple times together but I'm trying to limit it because if Luca has anything like a virus or parasite then I don't want him passing it to Avi. But they seem to like each other; Luca wants nothing more than to be best friends with Avi but I think Avi just looks at him as an annoying cat baby lol.
I also didn't want to let them bond too much until Luca bonds with my boyfriend. He still can't get very close to him.

We swear by Nature's Miracle and it's never discolored anything. Even my hubs' super sensitive nose can't find the spots afterwords.

EGs tend to bond with ONE individual! You may never get Luca to bond with your boyfriend or Avi. You've really taken on a challenge here. I admire you so very much.

I bought the natures miracle cleaner and tried it out last night. I thought I used quite a bit of the cleaner and rinsed and scribed and rinsed and scrubbed again but the one main area he was using is still quite smelly
I plan and giving it a second go today. Hopefully it gets that smell out!
I think I will need to get the carpets cleaned sooner than later it seems

Ps. I uploaded a couple pics to photo bucket of luca's escape to his cat tree last night while I vacuumed the carpet around his litter box. I cine entirely left the bedroom door open for him so he could get out when it turned on. lol. Poor baby

Emily, I hate that you're having to go through this. Cat urine is the worst to have to deal with. I certainly hope Luca stops peeing outside the litter box. Gosh, I feel so fortunate that Raiden has never done that.

We love to see photo bucket updates. When you post that there is an update, would it be much trouble for you to include a link to your web page? I love to see your beebs' updates but it seems to take me an inordinately long time to find your previous post with the link. You see, I am fairly computer illiterate.
