My two bengals hate each other

Thanks again guys. On a separate note the eldest ones bottom lip keeps appearing to swell up, but then disappears again within hours. Got him booked in the vets for a check up anyway but does this ring any bells?

I've not come across that before - but you've only had your youngest a short while so I guess still on the same food that he was fed at the breeders? Are they on the same food or does your new boy eat something different? It almost sounds like an allergic reaction. When does it happen? After he's eaten something?

Let us know how you get on at the vet - definitely mention the fact he has started peeing outside the litter box as well - they could be related. If something is aggravating his lip and it may aggravating his insides as well.

What type of bowl are you using to feed them? I read just the other day about a cat who developed a rash on it's mouth due an allergy to the plastic feeding bowl. The best type for cats are ceramic and stainless steel. A trip to the vet is always good -- just to be sure about things. Let us know what you find out.

Well the lip has gone down and the vet has found nothing wrong so hopefully all is now well. The two are now getting on like a house on fire, tearing around the house like loons.

I love happy endings!!! I have to smile when I read the title of your post! All it took was some time!!! Glad the lip has healed. But it sounds like it was an allergic reaction to something ....

Possibly. They now both have stainless steel bowls and i have changed back to their previous foods as this was causing stomach issues with one of them (seperate post lol), and touch wood all is well on the lip front.

Something could have bitten his lip or it could have gotten grazed during rough play. My kittens struggled with runny poo but have since grown out of it. I still give them probiotics in their wet food every day and that is a huge help. They have never thrown up but they do go out on the patio and capture, torture and eat lizards often. Sunday night Grace was hissing, growling and crunching on something so I am pretty sure she caught a lizard. She didn't eat much on Monday and the litter box was still clean when I came home from work. But this morning, wow, they more than made up for it, and they were very hungry following me around whining after they ate. They go through little ups and downs but generally they are back on track within a day.

The downsides to owning a pet -- they are just like children. Always something happening, they are always getting into something, they are whiny and cranky and need a nap! Geez!!!!! Changing their food and water bowls should help. Bacteria can cause a lot of problems. Hopefully, this problem has been solved. Now if you can just get the tummies settled in!

Well as of Sunday we have added a third Bengal to the mix, this time a thirteen week old female. Here we go again lol. Much hissing from the middle aged one as soon as he even gets a whiff. i think this could be more drawn out than the last one.

Vern, you are certifiable crazy at this point, aren't you? LOL But, now you're experienced in this! Congratulations on the third bengal. Your other two obviously brought so much joy into your home. Now to introduce the third one and have a happy home once more. Stainless steel food and water bowls are great! Happy to hear the lip issue is resolved.

They are all getting on like a house on fire now. The eldest has started peeing on the seats in the living room or on things left on the floor which is a bit of a concern. He doesnt do it anywhere else and is still using the litter boxes as well. Another visit to the vet for a check up is called for i think. Maybe he's a bit put out and feels left out with the new arrival as his old playmate now spends more time with the newbie. worse than kids lol

Vern, there's that learning curve again that you went through the first time. The cats' environment has changed again .... it can stress out a kitty. It's going to take some time again. I hope you're up to it. :biggrin:

The new kitten should have been separated from the other kitten in the beginning.
