Hi all

Otto was 6 months old last week, (Friday) and as a birthday present I got him neutered.... Meany I know.

The op went fine.
He was perfectly fine Friday night - mad as usual!
Since Saturday he has been hibernating under our bed....it's now Tuesday.

Saturday and Sunday night we allowed him to sleep under the bed because he clearly was in recovery.
However Monday got him to sleep downstairs as per normal. No crying, he seemed fine.

He has been eating but only when we tease him downstairs with it. Once he's finished he runs back upstairs.

He is not himself and I am now thinking to call the vet tomorrow.
His wounds seem completely fine - nothing to worry about (as far as I can see!) but he just isn't himself.... Hoped he would have worked his way out of this by now.

Call the vet. Confine him to a small room with his litter box, food, and water so you know what is going in and out. Spend time with him to see if there is anything you notice in terms of movement/pain or odd behavior. By know he should be feeling better and back to his normal self, or close to it. It could just be that he is really spooked by the experience and needs some comfort and confidence from you or there could be something wrong.

The last cat I had neutered was fine after all the anesthesia wore off. I was given pain pills for him. I'm sure he was sore, but he didn't act any differently. Of course, he was not a kitten either. It's always good to take the kitty back to the vet to make sure there's no infection or other complications. Better to be safe than sorry! It could be that he now associates you with the whole vet/surgery thing. If the vet doesn't find anything wrong, then it may just take some extra time for him to come back around to being the same kitty he was before.
