We are going on vacation next week. This is the first time since we got Luna (8.5 months old) that we have both been away. Needless to say we are slightly nervous. My boyfriends mom will be coming in the morning to feed and play with her and my mom will be coming in the evening to do the same. We plan to put away our bedside lamps (which she loves to knock over) and kitty proof as much as possible but we are still afraid that she will get bored and lonely and destroy the house.

Does anyone have any suggestions based on what you do when you go away?

Request pictures from the moms when they come in... it will make you feel better about things!

Luna is still a kitten so she's still going to have a lot of wild energy! Hopefully, the moms will stay for at least an hour to be with her to make sure she eats, clean the litter box, and spend some time with her. If she is familiar with these people, it should go smoothly. Kitten proofing is a great idea and closing off rooms may help as well. By all means have the moms email you pictures or videos of Luna and I'm sure you'll see she's doing fine. When we go away, I prefer to board Raiden in the cat room at the vets. They have 3 level condos and a cat playroom with a large cat tree (that actually looks like a tree). I'd rather Raiden have 24 hour supervision (there is a vet and tech there through the night) just in case something happens. I'm still nervous the entire time we're gone. Hard to enjoy a vacation when you're thinking about your kitty. Have a great time.

Close off rooms you don't want her in and prop open doors at the top for rooms she can be in, so she doesn't close herself in. Also leve something out that smells like each of your for comfort.
