Hello everyone! I have been lurking on here for quite a bit reading everything I can. I have been looking into the Bengal breed for a bit over a year and finally put a deposit with my breeder in January. Figured it was time for me to introduce myself seeing as I picked out my new baby today! Very excited! She will not come home until Mid-end of June so this is going to be a long wait. Seeing as I have waited a year I hop 6-8 more weeks will fly by (fingers crossed). I love reading all the tips and advice on here as well as seeing everyone's adorable Bengal babies. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

lovely kitten! I thought about marble also. and snow bengals.... just could not choose in the end up so ended up with a brown lol

Welcome to the forum. Love getting new members here. Your baby is just adorable! Nothing like posing a bengal on a patterned background. LOL. June isn't that far away -- it's almost May at this point. While you're waiting, continue reading up on the breed and catifying your home for the upcoming arrival! You will have your hands full as they are like infants in the beginning and they grow into toddlers that never become teenagers. Bengals are a lot of fun unless you have things to do and they insist on attention. But, bengals are super special. Congratulations.

Thank you Sherry! I am definitely feeling very welcome and it is very appreciated. I have been working on Bengal proofing which was made easier by the fact my kids are not that old that I got out of the baby proofing habit and I babysit my nephew a lot. I do crawl around still and try to think like a Bengal "what would be fun to play with?" "What is something mom wouldn't want me getting into?!" LOL trying to also come up with ideas for a cat highway but wondering if I should hold off to see if she maybe turns out to be more of a bush dweller...

Very few bengals are bush dwellers! LOL. You don't say how young your children are, but kittens usually become carried items and bengals don't really like to be carried around. Hope you're able to train your kids to be gentle with the kitty and leave her alone when it's apparent that the kitty does not want to be bothered. Some kitties like wires, so make sure they are all hidden away or covered up. It is amazing what kittens can spot being so close to the ground. You're adding another "child" to your household. Sounds like you'll be super busy!

My kids are almost 9, almost 7 and 4. They have been around my mom's cats quite frequently. She doesn't like being picked up either so they are familiar with the warning signs but I will definitely be supervising all the time. I will also be setting rules about leaving her alone when she is certain places ie top of cat tower, litter box, upstairs in general. I want to ensure she has safe zones.

Your kids are definitely old enough to handle a kitten properly! I'm sure they are very excited as well. Good thing is that kittens grow into adult cats and get much larger!
