Thanks for the reply Sherry, I looked at the Petsafe fountains and whilst some were nice and heavy so that the little monsters couldn't tip them over, all the ones that I found had access to the pool of water in the fountain which allows the splashing of water all over the place.

I have found a fountain from Lucky-Kitty which seems to be designed to stop the "splish, splash, the whole room is taking a bath" behaviour that I have been seeing recently. The only downside seems to be that it needs to be topped up more regularly than some other fountains but I have been putting fresh bowls of water down 2 or 3 times a day recently so it is no more inconvenient.

That fountain looks really nice. Raiden doesn't drink a whole lot of water at all. Maybe he gets enough from his wet food. Or else he's drinking when I'm not looking. When I do spot him, he does sit there a while and drink! I used the fountain I have out in his enclosure. He does love to put his paws in the water and (like you), I didn't want a mess on my kitchen floor. I hope this fountain works out for you.

We have a drinkwell lotus water fountain, it's ceramic, mostly, (ceramic main bowl and top bowl, plastic tower fitment) it sounded like a great idea, and I was all for it. However when it arrived, we immediately found out that the pump was an American one, (2 pin 120v) and one plastic tube that needed to be water tight was split.

A trip to a local pond and aquatics store, taking the fountain with us, and they sorted us out with a new pump, new tube fitment and a short length of flexible hose. Once home we had an hour of trial and error and just about managed to get the whole thing to fit together flush and work right.

Put it in place for the boys, who took an immediate interested, and also immediately dismantled it, despite the ceramic parts. We put it back together and they proceeded to dismantle it again, a few times. So we gave up. They still have their boring old water bowl, but even now, they play with the water more than anything else. We've not seen them 'drink' from it in a while, but they get loads of water & blood from their raw food, three times a day, and the litter box is well used, so for now, I don't think we have a problem with them not 'drinking'.

It is early days, but both Ada and Babbage have had a good go at playing with their new fountain and it is resisting their attacks. Ada was trying to lift the lid off, but it seems heavy enough and there is very little that she can get a purchase on. There is a small pool at the bottom of the cascade that they are enjoying swiping with their paws to splash a bit of water around, but it is a tiny amount compared to the puddles I have been coming home to.

One recommendation for anyone getting the Lucky-Kitty - I haven't got one myself yet, but I will purchase the foam filter for it as there is no charcoal mesh filter in the fountain when delivered.

A little update that might be of use to anyone else looking for a Bengal-proof water fountain:

It is working well. there has been no splashing and attempts to open it up to play with the inside-y bits have all failed. In operation it is completely quiet. The only water that has spilled out of the fountain has been due to me over filling it - that takes a little bit of guess work as you don't get to see the water level except in the little collection area at the bottom of the cascade. One thing I would/ will do is buy a sponge filter for the fountain - there is less likelihood of anything falling into the fountain, but I still feel that a filter should be part of the setup.

In conclusion, it looks like a urinal and works like a dream.
