We have a drinkwell lotus water fountain, it's ceramic, mostly, (ceramic main bowl and top bowl, plastic tower fitment) it sounded like a great idea, and I was all for it. However when it arrived, we immediately found out that the pump was an American one, (2 pin 120v) and one plastic tube that needed to be water tight was split.
A trip to a local pond and aquatics store, taking the fountain with us, and they sorted us out with a new pump, new tube fitment and a short length of flexible hose. Once home we had an hour of trial and error and just about managed to get the whole thing to fit together flush and work right.
Put it in place for the boys, who took an immediate interested, and also immediately dismantled it, despite the ceramic parts. We put it back together and they proceeded to dismantle it again, a few times. So we gave up. They still have their boring old water bowl, but even now, they play with the water more than anything else. We've not seen them 'drink' from it in a while, but they get loads of water & blood from their raw food, three times a day, and the litter box is well used, so for now, I don't think we have a problem with them not 'drinking'.
